My partners father lives in Mandeville hence our trip to this town. We noticed the Bloomfield House in Lonely Plannet under the top 20 things to do in Jamaica - drining coffee in Mandeville. Take it from me it is the only place to drink (decent) coffee in Mandeville. The house is a stunning colonial propoerty set above Mandeville in beautiful grounds. It has been tastefull restored by Ralph and his partner (sorry forgot her name as she wasn't there) The restaurant in set on the lovely balcony with great views across Mandeville. We came here for coffee, then came again for an evening meal, having been originally put off a meal by a locals view. Don't be put off the food was lovely and the setting great. There is also a small bar of you just want a drink, with Red Stripe on tap!

Jamaica is known for coffee and rum and just by chance those were the two flavours l chose. Well, a week later and back in the grey old UK l am still dreaming of those flavours. Amazing.

This place is an institution—and is on the “must go” list of restaurants.
I would strongly suggest you have a designated driver—one who knows the way, and someone who doesn’t drink more than a beer—because the drive isn’t easy, and Little Ochie is probably not at all close to where you are staying.
Little Ochie is casual—very much so. Seating is in boat-like structures scattered about the beach.
When you come in, you select the fish you want from large chest-style refrigerators. Prices are by the pound and are clearly listed. Then you take your fish to be weighed, tell them how you wish it to be cooked, whether or not you’d like an “extra” such as festival, and find a place to sit. On your way to your “table,” you stop and get a soft drink, some juice, a beer, and/or a pony of liquor; then you mix your own drinks or just swig from the bottle.
If you wish, you can watch your food being cooked. Most is cooked in the largest sauté pans you may ever have seen.
Another caution: This is Jamaican food served the way most Jamaican like it—very spicy. I have finally chosen to tell the servers that I am allergic to garlic and Scotch Bonnet peppers because when I asked for “just a little,” I was in pain (being a spice wimp).
The final caution: If you go on a weekend, expect the loudspeakers to blast you out of our seat with rap music. I suggest a weeknight for a smaller crowd and a much more enjoyable dining experience.

This place was recommended by my coworkers here in Mandeville Jamaica, and it was my first time in Jamaiaca so I was excited to try the local food fare!
I did not disappoint! The service was a bit long but they were pleasant. Besides, even though I was hungry, I enjoyed the drinks and conversation.
When the food finally arrive, I made it a point to take pics of everything & then listen to feedback from my co-workers.
They loved it - and I love my dish especially!
I had the oxtail with rice and beans, and WOW! Tender oxtail meat in a good size portion!
The jerk chicken wings were tender and amazing!
Everyone else enjoyed their specific orders as well.
The atmosphere was amazingly intimate and I love the music playing in the background.
This is a place I wouldn't mind coming back to to enjoy a good meal and spending times with good friends.
Enjoy!

The staff is very courteous and customer service is great but sometimes the amount of food is too lil' bit so I feel cheated because it is very tasty, especially the curried chicken!

Many people may not know it, but the Chinese people have a large business presence in Jamaica. One of those businesses is naturally--Chinese restaurants. This restaurant was recommended by our innkeeper and she was not wrong. The staff looked like they enjoyed their jobs so that told us they would put out a good product. Even though many the items on the menus had been depleted by previous customers, we enjoyed huge portions of veggie fried rice and chicken fried rice at a very reasonable price.

Jamaican Chinese Take-Out
I call this a Jamacanese (Jamaica/Chinese) Restaurant. It has this Jamaican aura about it which sets it apart from the other Chinese Restaurant around town. The concept is very nice in that you are allowed the opportunity to see your meal being prepared, the dining facility is very nice and the entire space is immaculately kept. The food is super considering that I did not see a Chinese Chef and so, yes, Jamaicans can cook good Chinese Food. Thumbs up to the owner for the concept and continue to keep the flame under your "Wok". All the best.
