Two thousand years of history have lent Mainz a cosmopolitan air, and museums and cathedrals of various architectural styles dot the city. Bring home a book as a souvenir—Gutenberg worked here, and the museum dedicated to him is a highlight.

The highlight of the Bellpepper restaurant at Hyatt Regency Mainz is the open show kitchen, which gives insight into food preparation and the staff around Chef Sven-Ole Hastreiter. The modern and elegant interior design, with magnificent views of the Rhine River, offers the ideal ambiance for a dinner for two, with friends or business partners. The restaurant serves creatively prepared dishes with regional and international influences. The exquisite culinary creations are prepared from fresh, using local ingredients in the open show kitchen in front of guests' eyes. A walk-in wine boutique with a variety of regional and international wines invites guests to pick one's favourite. In the summer months, the beautiful Bellpepper Terrace serves delights from the menu under white awnings with stunning views of the Rhine River.
We went for dinner and had their seasonal prix fix menu of 4 including dessert. The food was excellent and the recommended wine pairings were great choices. The ambiance is a bit noisy with an open-air kitchen which we found very enjoyable but would not be good if you are looking for a quiet dinner. The service was excellent as well, very friendly yet professional. I would definitely go back again.

Refurbished church, great location, bit noisy though. Menu had many choices for a german-style pizza and other local food. The wiener schnitzel was huge and delicious. Fine wines as well. Service was quite slow and difficult to get a waiter’s attention.

Very warm welcome and cosy Seating amidst the brewery equipment. Not a huge noisy hall like in some other places. The beer was very nice. The food covers a broad range of traditional German foods, mostly on the heavier side. Serving size was generally good. Overall, moderately priced. Recommended for drinks and for a more rustic dinner.

Despite living in this town for many years, I have only recently discovered this excellent restaurant and wine bar in connection with a visit to the nearby "Kammerspiele". It's located in a residential street where you wouldn't normally expect it, but it's only a few...MoreThank you very much for your positive review. It's nice to read, that you enjoyed your stay with us and hope, you'll return soon, to try our dessert - I love our small chocolate cake! Maybe after our next Kammerspiele-Visit? See you soon!

We decided to try this place without a reservation. We were told we could dine there but had to leave by 7:30 for a reservation. No problem as it was only 6:00 pm. I ordered the filet steak and my wife ordered the Rumpsteak. A little bit of advice order a higher temperature then you do in the US. If you like medium order medium well. This was also explained to us. we took our chances and ordered as we did in US and it was 1 to 2 temperatures below. No problem. My medium was more rare than medium rare. The wine is great, the staff is friendly and attentive. My wife's steak came out a bit fatty and it was hard to eat. We mentioned at end of meal and they bought us an after drink. All in all great experience. Nice atmosphere and would try again.

Based on reviews I decided to book a table here as I was staying in the Mainz area. Wow, what a great place to eat and what a difference compared to many "Italian" restaurants in Germany. This is a true Italian restaurant with real and great Italian dishes. I did not have pizza, but even they look authentic. Will 100% be back next time around!

We came across this restaurant on a Thursday evening in Mainz. It was packed, and we thought it must be good. After a short waiting time our table was ready. We were not disappointed: really tasty and good food, nice drinks and perfect service. We were impressed and are happy to recommend this place. We ll be back when we are back in Mainz.

Welcome to Weinhaus Michel the only pub in the old town of Mainz where the bartender serves his own wine. Stefan Michel comes from Weinolsheim near Nierstein, where his family has been growing wine since 1756. We've been into ecological wine-growing for years, and we use organic fertilizers, for example.Since food keeps body and soul in harmony, we offer lots of great things to eat, from Mainzer Spundekas to our done-in-the-pan meals to tasty dessert of Cherries, Michel-style. Our "wine personalities" are very special; they lovelingly describe the characters of our wine. Astrid and Stefan Michel and their team wish you a fantastic time in the heart of Mainz's old town.
Wonderful delicious Mainz seasonal cuisine. Small restaurant with good selection of local wine. Beautiful setting with friendly staff. We had such a great time dining there the first night. We returned the next day for dinner again. Reservation is strongly recommended.

Great steak dinner, a little on the pricey side, but well worth it. Parking was somewhat of an issue, but not a deal breaker!
