Typically i will avoid hotel restaurants. The food is generally not as good as a local restaurant and has less charm. This veranda restaurant bucks the trend and serves up delicious food in a romantic setting. One of the top restaurants in town.

We had two of our four dinners in Lençois at Cozinha Aberta. The food was excellent on both occasions. It is a short menu, but everything on it seems to be perfectly prepared. We tried a shrimp with vegetables and black rice dish, and also a Thai curry. Both were superb. Service is also excellent, and it is nice to sit on the back patio.
While sitting at the small tables of other restaurants in the streets in town is also nice, it is nice to have this step up in quality and atmosphere at times as well.
Highly recommend!

Although we didn't feel like pasta we realized afterwards that it was a (mostly) pasta-only place. We were not disappointed, though. The portions are generous and reasonably priced. The meat in the pasta was delicious and so was the gorgonzola cheese.
Staff are super friendly and efficient, not pushy.
We'll probably going again tonight!

Lençois doesn't offer that many good quality restaurants, but it does offer an exotic taste of rural backland food as a counterpoint to all pasta and pizza serving backpackers! The O Bode (the Goat) is a great example: simple setting, food by the pound, and atmosphere. They displayed buffet cover sun dried meat, variety of beans, salad, beaf stews, and above all goat stew. I would recommend to concentrate on the goat stews, the best I've had since my visit to Jamaica! Add salad and local green beens! This was my best meal in Chapada Diamantina. Go for it!

In search of desserts we found this little place which only served desserts, great concept! The inside was odd decorated, lovely, but still a little spooky to me, so we decided to move to the one table outside. We could choose out of only 3 desserts, and decided to go with chocolatecake with hot sauce and maracuja ice. The cake was really really good, unfortunatelly drowned by hot chocolatesauce and melting maracuja icecream. If I'd come back to this lovely lady, I would order the chocolatecake, without sauce and without ice. It was too good to be spoiled.

The Bodega is a nice restaurant with some good options in the menu. It is one of the few with kid menu in Lençóis. They also prepare some nice mixed drinks (mojitos, rum and coke, gin and tonic, not only caipirinhas). The food is nothing special, but it is good. We had the steak with mushroom sauce (hirataki) that was overcooked and the meat with vegetarian lasagna that was very good. If you are looking for a friendly place, this is one of the best options in Lençóis.

-cachaca distillery, apparently they have 50 different flavours of caiphirina over here
Cons:
-long waiting: took almost 30 minutes before our orders were only taken. A group of american girls were complaining because they had ordered over an hour ago and still didn't get there food. They had to order again. This time it only took 10 minutes before they got their undercooked steak (they send it back and waited a little longer
-horrible salad: ours was way too salty, we had to send it back. We are pretty used to salty meals travelling trough Brazil, but we wanted a fresh salad, not a bite out of sea. We didn't get a new one, and still had to pay for the one we had send back..
-idiotic pizza's: we also ordered 2 totally different pizza's (can't remember which). At first sight (and taste), they served us the exact same pizza's. After soms "research", we came to the conclusion the pizzas weren't identical, they totally mixed up the ingrediënts of our ordered pizza's and then tried to fix it by making them look identical :)
Well, I really don't know what happend here, but if every other day is like this I do not recommend wasting your time and money here. It was THE worst service and pizza we had in Brazil. Maybe they have good cachaca

This little cafe on the grounds of the Canto Da Aguas hotel is charming. There is a large array of coffee drinks available. Most are delicious, though some don't deliver on their promise. The rose water flavored espresso tasted like regular espresso. The iced coffee had too much ice and not enough coffee. The cafe, though, is relatively unique in town and the staff will allow you to stay as long as you'd like.
