...Surya Cafe is a Restaurant like any other restaurant on the left and the right at Gokarna beach (exept Chez Christophe). The menue has basically the same dishes listed than any other Restaurant in Gokarna. The chef/owner might be a bit better than in other restaurants. Everybody likes Suraya but only because there is barly somthing better on the beach, and it is cheap.
Why I am giving only 2 Stars?
The plates, the cutlery is always dirty, the kitchen is always a mess, the service is ultra-poor, waiting for one hour for a simple curry is normal and what is the most annoying they might have a tandori grill but the dont want to heat it up because they are to lazy. The fish from a pan is not the same like a fish from a charcol/wood tandor.
others would say... thats India, thats Gokarna and thats why we are here.... thats why we love it……sorry but not me.
PS: the ambient at night is horrible unless you are in love with ultra bright and blueish direct neon lighting or direct light from energy-saving-bulbs. But quite often you will lucky and they will bring candles to the table because there will be the daily power blackout.

Spent Christmas and New Year's in Gokarna a number of years ago, 2007-08. A memorable part of that experience was the wonderful mornings sitting on the rooftop of Mahalaxmi Restaurant, before heading off to Kudle Beach for a day of sun and sand. We may have had eleven breakfasts there, or the odd brunch depending on your definition of breakfast times, and each one was very good. Also enjoyed a couple of lunches and dinners there. Between the four of us, sampled the entire breakfast menu, and I don't recall a bad experience. The owner was very friendly, prices were very reasonable. If it is anything like it was those years ago, I would recommend it to everyone.

good decent place to have food...basically more designed for the western food lovers....though it has a steady stream of desis wanting there coffee and paneer masala and rotis...
we dined there twice for lunch and once for breakfast...
i have eaten better southindian tasting thalis at various places other than prema....
but the garlic homemade sour cheese toast was awesome so was the mango ice cream .....we bought coffebeans from there but they are not toasted enough and were kind of not fresh....

This place is located right at the Om beach Gokarna. Highly preferred by foreigners. Best place to enjoy sunset while having good food. Calamari, prawn are some of their special items. Ambience is good and food quality is commendable. People from all age groups visit this place.

Ocean-front multi-cuisine restaurant, room & board in wooden cottages, chill spot. At little Paradise, you are back home.

Visited Gokarna with a large group of 12 adults and were finding it hard to find a place that would service food quickly. Read a few reviews of this hotel before we visited them and we were not disappointed. Its a small outlet which offers good food at a very decent cost.Ordered stuff ranging from dosa's to rothi and sabji, generally all the dish were good nothing too expansive or elobrate. Like the title its a no nonsense outlet...
I would also like to highlight they have very quick service..

I have been to Gokarna thrice, and this is my favourite place for breakfast and late night coffee... Service is little slow - which I appreciate - so that I get more time to absorb Arabian see.. Everything in the tae/coffee section is good... Ginger-Lemon-Honey and Coffee are the best...
And this is the cheapest yet with best quality - among all other restro at beach

I liked this place. We ordered pancake - banana nutella pancake and banana chocolate pancake, poori sabji, bread omellette. I liked banana nutella pancake over banana chocolate pancake. Poori sabji was like home made. Omellette was also good. One of the best places to have food in Gokarna.

Excellent beach-side restaurant on a small cliff; very inviting and relaxing. Super-friendly and non-pushy staff. I ate a lafa (israeli roll) several times here: very good, and tea. Don't know about the rooms. The restaurant had lots of choices and seemed cheaper than other restaurants.
