I thought Jim's blue cheese burger was my favourite Craftsman burger - until I tasted the stroganoff burger. It was the 'burger of the week' last time I was in. Six ounces of perfectly-grilled ground beef, Cheddar, caramelized onions, a dollop of sour cream, and multiple other "fixins" make this the tastiest burger I've ever had. A work of art... wish I'd thought to take a picture. It's a meal in itself... without the side of fries or salad. It's a messy meal, but well worth it. Just make sure you have extra napkins on hand.

Been going here for a few years now , probably eat here about 6 times a year , I have only been for breakfast , you can't go wrong with eating here , prices are good , food is hot and fresh and service is great .
If your in the area looking for a good hot breakfast and not have to wait long for it , go to The Pine Star !!!!

Went to the Lakehouse last night as a treat for not having to cook dinner. We ordered the crab cakes to share (delicious) and each of us had the entree Caesar salad with a chicken breast. The salad dressing was amazing, the portion size was large, but I feel the price for the salad and chicken was too expensive. $19.00 each for the salad ($38.00) for 2 is ridiculous. Perhaps decreasing the size of the salad would help lower the price. We certainly will go back, but next time order a more substantial meal. The waitress was attentive and quick to check on us.

This is the type of place that does everything well!!
I was actually surprised at their extensive menu and the variety of choices.
Kinda reminded me of the Dinners in the U.S.
I came based on the recommendation of close friends that live in Maynooth.
The place is not too large, has ample parking and is just outside of Bancroft.
Friendly, prompt service, very family oriented.
The food came out quickly and the portions were very generous.
Food was very tasty and overall was a great experience.
If I'm up that way again, will stop in again for sure.
Highly recommend.

Second time we went.......and you know how with the tendency for 'regression to the mean' how a restaurant rated at the very top tends to feel not quite as good the second time? Well, it didn't happen. In fact, for me, it was even better the 2nd time around. The garden salad was so fresh and refreshing---spinach, mushrooms, peppers, and I can't remember what else. Loved the ribs. Those who say that 'fat' is a part of the rib experience are proved wrong by the ribs at The Eagles Nest. Lean and meaty......and a delectable rib sauce. And the fried chicken----yes, there was lots of batter (which I normally don't like), but it was one of the best batters I've ever had on a fried chicken. Don't know what the secret is. And the bill was very reasonable. One of the best non-ethnic restaurants around.

Our family of 7 stopped in midway through a 5 hr car ride home from vacation and we were served quickly and efficiently with heaping plates of awesome Italian goodness! Our waitress (Kimber) was easily one of the best we've ever had and the food was amazing. It was very busy, so obviously popular. It is too far away from home to be a regular haunt, but definitely on the roster for a repeat visit on the next car trip. Thank you!

The Granite On Facebook, Being Confsed With The Granite Grill Which Is No Longer In Business, Been Replaced By Rose's Place
We ate here on two occasions going to and returning from a cottage rental near Haliburton. On the first occasion, the Granite was packed and it was a good thing our son had made a reservation. We had a great table in the window; service was quick and attentive, and very friendly. We had a variety of dishes, including burgers, pasta, and a salad, all of which were perfectly OK but rather uninspiring. The second occasion was similar though we sat on the (very small) covered section of the deck because of muggy, rainy weather. Once again, we were very struck by the quality of the service. This is a very good place to stop for a quick meal if you're passing through Bancroft, though I would not suggest it for a fancy evening out. :-) Be aware that it can get very crowded as it is obviously a highly popular local spot!

It looked so promising.....unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere, great smells. And the clam chowder was lovely/....lots of clams (even if they were a bit chewy) and a nice (if maybe a bit salty) broth.
Then the seafood combo came. It was only $9, but it comes without fries or coleslaw so we ordered them on the side. The 'halibites' as they called it (small pieces of halibut) wasn't bad.......though it had a lot of batter. The shrimp was horrendous.....not much other than batter and the bit of shrimp you got was pretty tasteless and dry. The clams were really nothing but batter. The french fries had the unique character of being both greasy AND dry.....an art in itself, I think. And the coleslaw.....let's not talk about that.
I guess I should have been suspicious when I noticed that the tartar sauce was in little commercial packages.....indicating that this isn't something they make themselves with loving care.
Never again.
I can't believe those positive reviews. The reviewers should try Captain George's fish and chips----then see how good quality fish & chips compares with this stuff.
