Relaxed, dignified, warm and friendly. A lovely spot for fine dining. You'll want to return. A major attraction is the thought that goes into the menu which is regularly revised. The team in the kitchen is competent and artistic. A good cellar. Almost every meal we have eaten here has been pretty much perfect. An uncharacteristic slip this time was the beef fillet going cold-ish on one plate before the course was finished. But that didn't diminish the flavour. We'll still be back.

Enjoy the ambience of our fully restored 1876 stone building. Open for lunch and brunch from 11am with dinner being served from 5pm. Our al fresco setting is extremely popular during the summer months or take a step back in time in our beautiful interior for fireside dining. Our food is classic and hearty, focusing on slow cooked New Zealand produce, Aged steaks from the grill, and fresh seasonal produce. An excellent array of Central Otago wines. Feel free to join us for a full dining experience or enjoy some beverages and tapas.
The service couldn’t have been better, the fish of the day-Blue eyed cod was delicious with a salad that complemented it well. The hot chocolate on almond milk was good but could have been a little hotter and of course I’d have preferred a chai tea if available. Beautifully preserved heritage building with both inside and outside Seating available. Cloth napkins were appreciated along with wifi.

The moment you step inside Mantra Restaurant you will discover there's a real difference when it comes to enjoying Indian hospitality and dining. Sophisticated Indian cuisine in Arrowtown in a pink, black, almost womb-like interior, emphasizing peace and tranquility. The unique décor is warm and inviting with careful attention to making your visit truly enjoyable and special. Mantra promises an elegant dining experience and is keen to push away from the traditional image of an Indian restaurant. The ambiance is smooth, with slow-moving waiting staff deliberately taking their time to make sure the pace of life in here is suitably sedate. Menu is varied, with an excellent vegetarian selection which has been carefully selected and crafted by Shammi. Portions are generous and very nicely-presented. Complementing the menu Mantra has showcased an excellent wine list.
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner at Mantra during our recent stay in Arrowtown. If you like Indian food, don’t miss it. The samosas were homemade and delicious as was the lamb vindaloo and butter chicken. Service was excellent.Thank you for taking the time to give us your review. Most appreciated. We hope you will visit us again some time. Kind Regards Shammi

visited Arrowtown for the first time and saw this cool looking shack of a place after a bit of time enjoying a opera singer busting cool tunes at street corner and seeing a palm reader ( im a bit cynical to waste 40 bucks though)in park outside this feedshop.
i went to this place ordered 1/2 scoop fries and 2 cod. whilst hogging into the fish it had a heavy ammonia taint which to me means it was old frozen stock. i was to far away from this vender to return and complain however it would be proper for vendor to taste test new batches before palming of to the unsuss public.

Step back in time and enjoy a slice of Arrowtown’s rich heritage. The carefully preserved historic cottage, once home to the town’s postmasters, has been a main street feature since the 1860s and is now a popular restaurant surrounded by beautiful Gardens. Enjoy the beauty of each season at Postmasters, whether it's soaking up the sun whilst sitting out on the verandah with a refreshing drink or inside by the open fires with a homemade mulled wine in the colder months. The seasonal menu features fresh flavours, top quality local produce, and Central Otago wines which showcase the best of this famous wine-making region. Plenty of gluten-free and vegetarian options available as well as a dedicated kids’ menu.Open daily for breakfast, morning & afternoon tea, lunch and dinner.
Pleasant smart cafe in 'period' surroundings. Pleasant staff although they seem more attuned to working in a fast food establishment as we were initially given only a couple of minutes to consider the menu and wine list before someone was hovering. Although very friendly the service throughout was rather more 'efficient' than leisurely/relaxed.
he food was good however (presentation and flavours) and one of the pinot noirs (Sally's Pinch) surprisingly good value.

Housed in a historic cottage in pictuesque Arrowtown, the Cafe serves as a bakery and coffee shop serving savoury and sweet pies, sandwiches and hot dishes. It is licensed serving local Central Otago wines.
Had two visits here recently while here for long weekend. I am a fan of Allpress coffee but here was variable, first was too weak and second too strong. Situated in an old quaint cottage. Popular so can be a decent wait to order. I did enjoy the Buddha bowl for lunch.
