Well worth doing if looking for some exercise - loop track a plus, great views around the lake and accessible for littlies as long as they can walk a bit. Do the walk and then dip in the lake - perfect on hot day.

In all honesty I wondered about the entry fee of $10 but it was well worth the price. A captivating collection of historical memorabilia specific to the location. Fascinating exhibition of ancient warriors in costume when my wife and I where there also.

You don’t have to dig far in this sophisticated, yet quaint village to find why this charming town oozes heritage whether the newly restored miner’s cottages, the latest exhibit at the Lakes District Museum or the magnificent trails. Arrowtown is renowned for its café and restaurant culture. Whether fine dining, or enjoying a casual pizza or pie, there are delicious options for every budget and time span. Boutique beers and local wines are just some of the beverages on offer. Arrowtown’s tree lined streets, shops and cafes housed in original buildings and its proximity to walking /cycling tracks, vineyards, golf courses and ski fields, make it a must visit destination. Arrowtown sits only 20 minutes from Queenstown and a mere 15 minutes from Queenstown airport.
A welcome break from the busy centre of Queenstown, Arrowtown is worth a visit. The main street is lovely, shops are interesting, eateries are excellent, and there are good toilets. Galleries abound nearby for those so inclined.

The chinese settlement is just besides the Arrowtown main street and very close to the car parking. Can be visited if you have time to spare. But wouldnt call it as a must do attraction. People interested in the history of the place may find it interesting. A lot of descriptive boards make it easy for a self-guided tour

Its UP UP UP! That view at the top.... just wow. The whole basin opens up in front of you. The trail starts near to the centre of town and takes you up and away. Its just stunning, even when you stop for a breather... turn round and admire.

Snowberries, gooseberries, wild strawberries, blackberries - in the right season (Autumn) you can find all four on this handy-to-Arrowtown loop track that takes in bush and stream, tussock and bluff, scrub and river valley, and even a ruined historic miner's hut. 2-3 hours should see you around. Our family favourite for the region.

I did the half day morning 4WD trip with driver Fran. It was awesome!! So many river crossings and 4WD tracks to drive. Fran gave us plenty of local knowledge and history of the gold mining days. She even made morning tea for us. what a legend!
Macetown is a must when visiting the Queenstown/Arrowtown region. Total worth your buck and educational with a sense of adventure. Would highly recommend hands down! We all left richer, literally! Panned for gold from the Arrow River and gained a few speckles. Thanks Southern Explorer for such a memorable experience.

This is a new walking track for medium to fit walkers. It takes you through native Forests, similar to the Routeburn track. There is a stream running throughout and it's beautiful. It is still in the making but the track well formed as far as it goes. Takes about 1-2 hours return. One of the best around and easy access.
My family and I visited arrow town and casually walked a portion of this trail, absolutely beautiful day with breeze blowing through the trees and the sun shining. I'm always blown away at how clear and beautiful streams and rivers are in New Zealand. This easy trail was within a short walk from the town's shops and was beautiful, great for a stroll after lunch. I can't speak for the entire trail, but the section near town feels light and airy, is fairly flat with trees, birds, flowers and a creek.
