What an enjoyable evening. The story of Lunenburg in story and song. Well acted by a talented, enthusiastic cast of local actors. You can easily see why it has been a hit at the Fisheries Museum in Lunenburg for 10 years. We can understand the cast and crew wanting a rest after all these years, but it is a shame that this is the last season for Glimpses. Try to see it before it closes the 2nd week of Sept. You won't be sorry you took the time.

Don't miss this beautiful church if you have time. The stained glass windows were saved after a devastating fire and the church was rebuilt from donations from around the world. The woodwork is gorgeous too. Worth the visit.

My husband and I visited the east coast of Canada for the first time in October 2017. Our friends in Antigonish, Nova Scotia highly recommended we visit the Fisheries Museum of the Atlantic, and we are so glad we did. I love stories, and we found lots of them in the museum, both in the displays and from talking to the guy in the museum (who told us stories of rum runners) and the guy on the Theresa E. Connor schooner , who had been a fisherman for 52 years. We got there too late in the season to take a ride on the Bluenose II, so we'll come in September next time. The gift shop and restaurant were really good too.

Laurie is a very talented artist. Her textile work is complex and intricate, and she creates beautiful art. Technically, her work is also interesting as an illustration of the relationship between "craft" and "art". I'm also very proud to own an original, so call me biased.

Blue Rocks

Reviewed By chiangmaicharlies - Chiang Mai, Thailand

A most beautiful spot just 15 minutes from Lunenburg (itself a lovely city).
Dramatic rock structures in the water, draped with golden sea weed. We spent probably 4 hours during two visits, admiring the scenic drives around Blue Rocks.
Who cares if the rocks aren't blue!
An absolute delight for photographers. Even more so if a fog bank comes over and totally changes the atmosphere, as it did for us.
I just pray that the recommendations here doesn't mean that Blue Rocks will become too crowded with tourists, as has happened nearby - but it was simply such a wonderful place, I have to heartily recommend it.
Absolutely not to be missed. Travel it slowly and please don't disturb the locals.

There is a reason that Lunenburg is a UNESCO World Heritage Site......it IS historic....natural harbor, very old buildings, but in great condition. Working fishing village. Lots of shops, restaurants, historic sites and several monuments.
Although there are some places that are seasonal it is well worth the time to drive there.

If you are a Railway enthusiast, or a model railway fan, or you like the history of Nova Scotia's Rail industry or past Rail history this is a place you must visit.
Duane Porter is a great host and curator of this site and makes the tour entertaining and educational for adults and Children alike, if you are a train buff and have extra questions he is helpful to answer them and if you need advice and help with model trains hes also got the smarts for that as well.
The museum is just outside the town of Lunenburg so if you are exploring the town be sure to stop in, You will love it.

An interesting gem of information on how British settlements were created in the 1700's and particularly how Lunenburg was created and settled in 1751. Has rooms of period clothing over the centuries, plus original settlers and their families, why this is a UNESCO Heritage site and more.
