Room with A View, Seafood Restaurant situated within the Forth View Hotel in the coastal village Aberdour, Fife. Enjoy succulent scallops, wholesome halibut & Fresh Langoustines and many more delicious seasonal seafood dishes cooked to exquisite perfection. Whilst also enjoying the small but special menu you can enjoy the spectacular views of Edinburgh and the river Forth whilst listening to local Classical Guitar player Nick Rees on the sound system (who also plays live on occasion). Every seat offers a view of Edinburgh or Aberdour Harbour or climbers on the Hawkcraig Cliffs. On a sunny day it is nice to enjoy a pre-dinner drink in the garden area or eat Al fresco
Often great views from a restaurant equates to overpriced, poor quality food. This definitely is NOT the case with Room with a View. Location is spectacular with panoramic vistas looking over the bay to Aberdour, the Forth Rail Bridge and stretching over to Arthur’s Seat and beyond in Edinburgh.
The restaurant itself is small, only 8 or so tables tucked into a little dining room simply but neatly decorated in the Forth View Hotel. The building is down a steep track from the Silver Sands car park, either walk (no heals/posh shoes) or take the restaurant up on the offer of a lift.
The menu is small and well thought out, not too fancy but still with some innovation. Service was attentive without being overbearing.
Food, primarily seafood as you’d expect, was very well prepared and presented. Tasting plates are on offer for starters and desserts which offer a good chance to try a variety of dishes. Mains were also very well prepared with some interesting flavours and texture combos.
The wine list looks interesting, although unfortunately we didn’t have a chance to try many of them out.
We had lunch for three people - 3 courses with a glass of wine each all for just over £100 - very good value for money too.
Highly recommended.

We had our St Valentine's Day lunch here, our third visit to what is now our favourite restaurant and it was a good as ever.
The three course set lunch was a very reasonable £20 plus wine and offered amongst other things French onion soup, grilled chicken supreme on a bed of truffle flavoured risotto and cheese or sticky toffee pudding, all of which were absolutely delicious. I forgot to mention the home baked sourdough bread and butter with home made tapenade, but that too was excellent. The tapenade is also available as a take away in a small kilner jar and well worth the £5.
An excellent, friendly little restaurant where you are guaranteed satisfaction every time. Parking can be a bit problematic in the height of summer although there is a large car park under the rail bridge a few hundred yards away.
Highly recommended!

It's a comfortable place. My wife and I were very impressed with the quality of the food and drink, combined with an efficient level of service. The food is tasty, well presented, with a high level of attention to detail and presentation.
Coffee was also delicious and wife was pleased with her pot of tea and large slice of home made cake. Will definitely look forward to visiting again.
The one star was lost due to a problem with the entrance/exit door which lacks a 'door closer' system and all too often is left ajar/open by users leaving an unpleasant draught as a result.
I feel confident that the proprietor will give some attention to this.

Friendly helpful staff, good food, pleasant surroundings.
We visited Burntisland to catch up with family in the area and stayed at the Burntisland Sands Hotel. We had a double room and a twin room. Both were fine and cosy and had great views over the Forth. My one and only criticism of the place was the beds - the mattresses could do with replacing. Everything else was absolutely great! Everyone was friendly and welcoming and we felt right at home.
We ended up having lunch, dinner, drinks and breakfast within the hotel (in between walks on the stunning beach that’s literally two minutes away). All three meals were excellent and offered great value. 2/3 of us are vegetarian and we were spoiled for choice each time. For lunch we had sandwiches and toasties which all came with a nice salad and crisps. At dinner time we all had three courses and were delighted. Their vegetarian haggis, neeps and tatties came with a brilliant whisky sauce and we all agreed that their sticky toffee pudding was the best we’d ever had.
Breakfast was also excellent. We got three full breakfasts, again with great vegetarian options, and had two racks of toast between us. Our eggs were scrambled to perfection, and I didn’t need to eat for the rest of the day!
I would thoroughly recommend the hotel for any meal, and would return to stay.

The Ship doesn't look anything from the outside, but when you go in it's so lovely. The food is excellent and the service great. The staff are all extremely friendly and make you feel really welcome. I would recommend this restaurant to all my family and friends.

Stumbled across this when cruising the area late at night looking for somewhere to eat. Totally random selection as from the outside it didn't look particularly inviting but once we stepped in the door WOW! - what a difference. Lovely modern decor, a lively buzz at 9pm on a November Saturday and had to wait for a table to come free. Service was friendly and fast considering the number of other diners and the food was outstanding. The mixed pakora starter was lovely, the quality of the meat was very high and the sauces were distinct and well made. 10/10 and I wish I lived nearer as I would definitely be back regularly on the basis of this one visit.

located adjacent to castle, but you can access it indepently. Takes credit cards.
After visiting Aberdour Castle we thought what better a way than to finish off our visit with refreshments in the Castle.
Well, this was a big mistake, and we are sorry we visited the tearoom now as it somewhat marred a pleasant afternoon visit to the Castle itself.
We entered the tearoom, it was fairly busy when we went in, but mostly with people waiting for light refreshments. We found an empty table and sat down at it.
A large table was served after we entered. They just ordered drinks and cake/biscuits.
Another table that were seated in the opposite corner then eventually had their order taken.
Meantime we still waited. Another couple came in and sat down, presumably got fed up waiting and left. Meanwhile we still waited. We hadn't even been acknowledged.
We got up and went to the counter, and were asked to take a seat and someone would see to us. We returned to our table and still waited.
The first table that ordered eventually got their cakes/biscuits. The member of staff put their cakes/biscuits on individual plates and virtually slid them up the table to them.
By this time we had, had enough, it got too painful to watch, so we got up and left and not one of the two staff members uttered a word to us. Incidentally the first table still hadn't received their drinks by the time we left.
This is the first time in several years that we have walked out of an establishment in disgust after such a lengthy wait without being served, and is also our first negative experience with Historic Scotland.
Couldn't help but getting the impression that the customers were an inconvenience to the staff.
Prices were on the expensive side too for the poor offerings that were available.
Come on Historic Scotland, something urgently needs sorting out here, perhaps staff training in the very first instance.

My wife and I had lunch at this restaurant last weekend.
First impressions, were good, the building looked clean and inviting. The bar was also warm and cosy with a stone fireplace in the centre of the room. The restaurant portion of the bar was not being used for lunch.
Meet and greet, was fine and friendly with no delay. We were asked where we would like to sit, shown to our table, menus presented, specials explained and drinks order taken.
Menu. Typical pub fayre. Various good looking deals available on a daily basis. We chose the curried parsnip soup, haddock and chips, and ploughmans lunch.
Service, food and drink arrived promptly, but a mistake was made with my wife's order, and she ended up with a ploughmans Sandwich, she, however was fine with this, but we informed the waitress who checked our bill, and then informed the girl who took and placed the order. She came over and apologised. Matter closed. Dealt with well.
Food, the soup was gorgeous, and my wife really enjoyed the Sandwich. My battered fish was ok, with the batter being a bit pasty, and the chips seemed like deep fried oven chips, but the mashed peas were lovely and sweet.
Overall, value was good, with 3 courses, and 3 drinks for £30. I have given it a 3 but we would certainly want to return.

We have achieved a reputation for excellent cuisine and fine dining. Our food is prepared with the finest fresh herbs, spices and fresh produce available. You can enjoy the very best of Indian and Nepalese cuisine prepared by individual chefs with a touch of the unexpected. The very best of the worlds wines await your arrival and traditional desserts to enhance your dinner. We are waiting to welcome you!
Been going to Everest for many a year and always receive great service and food. Don’t think I’ve ever had a bad dish.
North Indian Garlic chicken is great. Lamb Tikka is brilliant. Love the Tamdoori mixed grill. The starters are all excellent and I’ve added a picture of the onion bhaji as the presentation is good as well.
Only room for improvement over the likes of Kushis is decor as it’s not changed for years and isn’t the most aesthetically pleasing restaurant although don’t let that out you off as the food than makes up for it.
