We went out for a drive looking for late tulips blooms and ended up in Zierikzee. After finding parking we walked by this old church. To a photo or two of it and walked into town for a meal. This church has unbelievable workmanship of it's age. If your into architecture this is a good place to see some.

In a special building tells the story of Stadhuismuseum monument city Zierikzee and its surroundings. It does this by means of a fine collection. The museum will inform visitors, but also surprise. Culture lovers can indulge in the period rooms. For those interested in social and regional history, there is the large exhibition hall. Here are the highlights from the Town Hall Museum and the Maritime Museum reunited. Particularly the Greenland kayak, kayak oldest in the world. The room is like a great time capsule with the finest items from 1,000 years of history. Here are the three themes together: city, water and land.Highly Highly recommended

The old harbour of Zierikzee reminded me immediately of Amsterdam but without the coffeeshops or the red light district. Really scenic is the collection of old boats of this open air museum. All ships have been restaured. Even on a dead sunday it's interesting as you can walk along the quays and read the information on a display with the history of each boat.

OPEN UNTILL 28th of OCTOBER 2017 Nice overview from the rich history from Zierikzee and why this place was so important for the creation of the Netherlands and for the success of the ''golden century" The exhibition gives you a good overview even when it is small you walk in 30 minutes through this exhibition and if you want to make it complete you can for a small amount climb the stairs and go to the top of the tower to have a nice overview of the town, if you visit this town you should not miss it

The small town of Zierikzee offers a wide range of historic monuments. This late Medieval 14th-16th century gate (build 1400-1559) is situated at the entrance to the old harbour of Zierikzee. At the other side of the harbour the Zuidhavenpoort was build a century later around 1500;restored in 1774.I enjoyed both old historic city gates on my walk through lovely Zierikzee.Other monuments include the Gasthuiskerk and Beurs on the historic Havenplein and the 18th century mansions on Havenpark.

VVV Zierikzee offers all the useful information on the many historic monuments of this small charming town.Zierikzee has several old city-gates dating from 1400-1500 and a few historic churches;most famous is the Panorama from the top of"Dikke Toren"(the overweight or fat tower) or Lievensmonstertoren.I arrived by public transportation(bus) from Goes NS Station and there are busses to Renesse,Burgh-Haamstede and Middelburg as well.I also enjoyed birdwatching in the marshes between Zierikzee and Renesse; the VVV had useful info.
