Just popped in on a Saturday night, you do need to book but they did squeeze 4 of us in it opens at 7PM by 7:45 it was packed. They don't do starter just massive plates of food, there speciality is 1.2 KG of chips which have been cooked in Fat not oil and are delicious, coated in a multitude of toppings covered in an ocean of Cheese. the poshest cheesy chips you will ever get and scrummy.
We also had the Entrecôte steak 500g yes 1/2 Kilo of mouth watering steak, and a Chicken dish they would have served 2 possibly 3 glass of beer each and a bottle of water 93 Euros a bargain non of us could move for a couple of hours we were that full.

Had a Sunday lunch here with friends in May, it was excellent so on our return to Dunkirk to collect our boat we very sensible made a reservation for dinner. Firstly staff are brilliant very professional then the food, well I ordered from the la carte menu and my husband from the 35euro set menu, both were first class, the fish dishes full of flavour and beautifully presented.
Would certainly go back. Best resturant in Dunkirk.

We searched for somewhere to eat outside in the rare April sun. We found this restaurant and weren't disappointed. Three of us had jacket potatoes with chicken and a mushroom sauce - huge and gorgeous. My son had fish and chips. He cleaned the plate - loved it! Don't be put off by it being by the cinema complex and main road. We'll worth lunch.

When a stranger opens the door to a new venue there is often intrepidation and definately expectation. At L'informel the warm and wonderful welcome is matched by the competent and well fused food of this region. Chicken which tastes like chicken, wild boar sausage which has some resemblance of the animal as well as good solid flavours which run through the starters and puddings. We had the house Merlot which was really good and well chosen, a true mark which shows that house wine is representative of the restaurant. Modern and minimalist is not for some, the use of black clothes and napkins emphasises the food plate and does not let the mind wonder to far from the table. The service is relaxed and like the name suggests informal, we liked this place a lot and loved the lady with the warmest welcome on a miserable day.

Excellent lunch place right on the quai overlooking the boats on the quai
We drove into the centre of Dunkerque not sure of what we would find. The harbour area is lovely with some great ships, a museum and this wonderful restaurant.
The menu had an interesting variety of local sea food. I enjoyed a wonderful salad that had bread-crumbed deep fried prawns, a huge pile of shrimps, a Thai fish-cake style croquette and a stack of the most wonderful smoked salmon. I am Scots and know good smoked salmon - but this was amazing. I asked the waitress where it came from and she pointed across the harbour and said 'over there' it is smoked with wood chips over there. It melted in my mouth and could be crushed to nothing by my tongue on the roof of my mouth with delicate flavours all washed down with the crisp and fruity house rosé.
The service was friendly, the waitress spoke perfect English and the food was excellent. I'll be back.

since 1968, second generation family business. Ordered the 32/43€ menus to taste many of their dishes. Started with sweetbreads/wild mushrooms and calves head with gribiche sauce, again, to try house specialities. The sweetbreads were cooked (not fried as eaten in the past) and served in a brown mushroom sauce, all around, a pleasant dish. The calves head was certainly an acquired taste, parts were quite fatty, other parts had some taste, but the whole thing was swimming in gribiche sauce (hard boiled egg yolk ailoli, but lacked any flavour). At least we tried it.
The 2nd course of pigeon (breast meat well cooked, a bit gamey taste, but to be expected) and catch of the day, turbot, served entiere (so deal with the bones!). The fish was nicely cooked, however, served with a pepper ratatouille, which seems a bit heavy for a side dish of fish.
We had the cheese course & dessert was ok. Service spotty, no introduction to dishes, just plonked down on the table. The owners shook our hands, but intro would be nice, handshake felt awkward. Ambience was poor, could be improved, it felt like a cafeteria. 80s music not appropriate for the space. The view of the river would have been nice without the sight of garbage cans and the seacan full of patio umbrellas. Free parking.

Everything you expect : location : a little unexpected on the side of the road, refurbished old house, perfectly decorated, stylish, warm, classy and not overdone. The people : service is perfect, professional, yet relaxed and open. The chef dropped by and guided us through some dishes. The food : simply excellent; classics with a personal twist; excellent and fresh ingredients; all of it homemade. We had oysters and duck as appetizers, simply delicious; and 'pot au feu of calfshead' as main dish. Had not eaten this in ages, and this was a bullseye.
Homemade desserts you cannot refuse.
A good yet not overly long winelist.
These guys got their act together!
Warmly recommended. You can go there with you best friends, your family or invite the prime minister. They will equally be welcomed and enjoy the quality of the place.

Best US diner in town..taste our awesome handmade burgers..freshly product after your order in an hard rock music atmosphere.. See you soon !
Followed the reviews and booked a table after a long day crossing the channel from Ramsgate. Having booked for eight of us as it was close to our mooring, I thought I had brought us to a pup. We were all tired after the crossing and the small restaurant is not much to look at. However, the food was magnificent, burgers cooked to perfection with lots of variable sauces and additions. Fantastic, the beer flowed and the Californian wine was a good (if a little surprising) accompaniment to the delicious burgers and fries.
Tried to go again 3 days later, but made the school boy error of not booking and it was full! Darn it.

"Comme vous voulez" une agreable et nouvelle adresse sur la plage de Malo les Bains a Dunkerque. Que ce soit pour un dejeuner, un diner entre amis ou en famille, mais egalement pour affaires ce restaurant est synonyme de plaisirs. L'equipe de "Comme vous voulez" vous garantit de passer un agreable moment.
Arriving with my family and no reservation we were lucky to get a table at this sea front restaurant. The set menu at 26 euros was amazing, my children tucked in to the same menu but for only 13 euros and slightly smaller portions. The starter of shrimp croquette was only surpassed by my eleven year old sons dish of sweetbreads which he and I declared as delicious. The mains of Guinea fowl breast were moist well cooked and served with a sublime mushroom sauce and creamy rice. My partners sole cooked with a grapefruit and lemon sauce was also superb. I cannot mention the desert selection that was not only a generous selection of tasters off the menu but declared a winner by all.
