Ramsgate is a seaside town in the district of Thanet in east Kent, England. It was one of the great English seaside towns of the 19th century. In 2001 it had a population of around 40,000. Ramsgate’s main attraction is its coastline, and its main industries are tourism and fishing. The town has one of the largest marinas on the English south coast, and the Port of Ramsgate has provided cross-channel ferries for many years.

Viking Bay is beautiful. We visited mid-March as the second “beast from the east” presented itself. It snowed for the first two days but somehow this only added to the ruggedness if the coastline. It certainly didn’t put a couple of local surfers off. Being off season meant that all amenities were closed but the beach huts and the Promenade are all beautifully maintained. It must be amazing in summer!

Returned to see the old place and it is just as happy with staff ready to help, a chance to win a big bear all proceeds to charity and with Christmas just around corner decorations will be up soon, making locals and visitors feel in the spirit.

It's a lovely little museum to visit. Although it's it only a couple of rooms, there's a lot to see, including the Hurricame and Spitfire aircraft. Another nice thing is that it's quiet, so you can really concemtrate on what you're looking at.
It's free to enter, parking is plentiful and wheelchair access is good.
Depending on how quick you go round, it will probably take about 30-45 minutes.

Ramsgate Royal Harbour is a working harbour, a ferry port (mostly unused) and an inner Marina. The inner marina contains about 150 yatchs, power boats and barges. You can walk right around the Marina although around high water the tidal gate is open for boat traffic and the foot bridge lifted. Along the Marine Parade are many places to eat and drink from Bistro’s to Wetherspoon (the largest in the UK) to Greek Tavernas.
Past the harbour is a long sandy beach perfect for swimming.

This is a lovely beach as are all the Beaches in Broadstairs, it on the extreme left of Viking Beach that is in front of Broadstairs, if you are staying and camping it is not far from camping sites, it is also quite but well liked by the locals.

Very nice and a peaceful interlude away from the normal hussle and bussle of live. Obviously not for everyone but would recommend taking a little time out to relax and visit

Whilst visiting the Memorial Museum just across the car park is this wonderful museum covering the History of Manston as both an Airforce Base (1916 to 1999) and also its current use as a Commercial Airport. Lots of models and real plans, with lots to read and look at. Excellent story of the airfield and how was used across the decades. A small nominal entry fee of £2 per person. Really well done.

Beautiful clean sandy beach. Not as crowded as the main beach at Broadstairs.
Excellent facilities: VERY clean toilets, large car park, shop/ cafe, life guards and a children's area containing bouncy Castles. You could purchase a days pass for the children's area for £5 and the children could use it as much as they liked.
Was pleased to see on both of our visits there was a litter collector patrolling.
Beach is sandy and has easy access to rock pools at either end.
Car Park cost £7 for four hours if you used the app rather than cash.
Watch out for sea gulls who are very brazen about stealing packed lunches!!!
