At low water, Wells beach has huge open views and mile upon mile of sands and shallow channels to enjoy. When the tide comes in, the beach is transformed into a harbour, with the entrance channel suddenly busy with visiting yachts, fishing boats setting out for the day or returning with their catch, local small boats going out to fish as well as clouds of small sailing boats racing or cruising within the harbour. The golden sands are backed by colourful beach huts which have been the subject of many a painting and postcard. The popular Beach Cafe nearby is perfect for refreshments during your visit.
Wells is a popular seaside town with lots of shops and places to eat. My family love to visit and get fish and chips and eat them outside while watching the boats and people. Great day trip from Suffolk or Cambridge. Sat nav will help you find reasonably priced parking. The train is great fun for the kids. Also an excellent place to bring your dog for a good long walk.

It’s an amazing beach. So big. No facilities so take your food and drink but a lovely pretty beach. Can be a bit breezy so a wind break is useful.

Windswept tidelines, a maze of creeks and saltings, miles of dunes and sandspits, shady pinewoods, green pastures and grazing marshes, the mix of habitats and the blend of wildlife confirm Holkham National Nature Reserve as a unique place.

The grounds at Holkham are extensive and the opportunities to wander and witness wildlife are considerable, so with our 'birdwatching wives' we had a slow amble around the grounds. Hiding in the undergrowth near to the lake was a very impressive stag deer - there...MoreThank you very much for your kind comments and for taking the time to review your visit to the park. Whin Hill Norfolk cider, makers of traditional cider, perry and apple juices.
As a Hereford cider maker, I understand the time and effort used to produce cider, and the people at Whin Hill Cider spare no effort. The Kingston Black we enjoyed sitting in the garden at the rear of the tasting rooms was perfect, in fact, so perfect we can had to taste another bottle! I strongly suggest if you enjoy cider, you should make a visit and if the sun is shining, make it a long visit

Sadly, the tourist information office has been moved to a small office on the Main Street into Wells. The original office has closed due to regeneration but hopefully they will be back on the main shopping street in due course. Mean well the staff we saw in the new premises were very helpful and very informative.

We had a lovely trip on the Lucy Lavers 1940 restored lifeboat, with Wendy informing and Ben at the helm. Definitely worthwhile if you are near Wells. Try French's fish and chips afterwards. AR

A hidden gem with just 70 seats and friendly intimate atmosphere tucked away just off Staithe Street in the old Maltings building. Went to watch a 'pirate pantomime' during the annual Pirate Festival in September and found out they have an interesting programme of drama, music, film and comedy. Comfy seats, a bar and a nice vibe - would recommend you check it out.

The, School House Gallery, once the home of sculptor Henry Moore, shows some of the best contemporary art - originals and prints - to be found in the whole of Norfolk, and certainly in North Norfolk. A friendly welcoming atmosphere with no pressure to buy but the enthusiastic owner is always ready to discuss her artists with visitors
