Warminster (/ˈwɔːrmɪnstər/) is a town and civil parish in western Wiltshire, England, by-passed by the A36 (between Salisbury and Bath) and the partly concurrent A350 between Westbury and Blandford Forum. It has a population of about 17,000. The 11th-century Minster Church of St Denys stands near the River Were, which runs through the town and can be seen running through the town park. The name Warminster first occurs in the early 10th century.

Stourhead includes a Palladian house and world-famous landscape garden. The garden is perhaps the most beautiful and magical of all the great landscape Gardens, Stourhead is an 18th-century view of an Arcadian paradise. On a plateau of high ground Stourhead house was built and became home to generations of the Hoare family.
Visited with my daughter today and the garden was lovely as usual. Staff friendly but not helpful that parking machines are out of order so have to walk to reception and then back to car before going anywhere! The paths are steep in places, especially down from reception (blue badge parking by spreadeagle courtyard) but you can take your time -just ignore those in more of hurry, paths are wide enough for them to get past.
Food is ok, small portions (pork one pot and bread £5.95) but drinks very pricey. Shop spacious but doesn't seem to have any more than smaller properties.
Toilets clean but hand dryer blowing freezing air.
Not sure if I would recommend paying high entrance cost (£16 non gift aid plus 4 parking) but great if you are a member and able to walk ok.

Forest and lake.part of the Longleat stately home estate
This is a lovely spot, easy parking, nice little coffee/tea house open Thurs-Sun, great woods and a nice lake.
BUT for dog walking, especially a Labrador, it was torture not to be allowed to take your dog off the lead when walking the lakeside path!!!! All she wanted to do was jump in and swim around as is her 'calling'. So headed into the woods on some both well marked solid paths and some good old muddy tracks. Found a nice pond which obviously feeds the lake with loads of sticks so one very happy Lab in the end.
I understand that fishermen often use the lake and therefore a dog splashing around isn't very welcoming BUT it's is big enough that surely allowing dogs off the lead further round would interfere too much.

I do not agree with some previous posts that the site is in bad shape however, the horse is at the top of a ridge/plateau, the car park is gravel, you do have to walk through a basically level grass field about 300 yards to get right up to the horse, there was some dog poo along the way but that is not hard to believe as many people seem to take dogs to that area and have them off leash contrary to the posted game rules and they apparently think it is the country/a paddock and thus no need to clean up after their dogs. The horse is interesting and really you should read up on the history of the horse and the renovations that have occurred since it was created. I do not recommend it on a windy wintry day unless you go dressed for the event.

Silence. Peace. The 14th century church of St. Mary's at Old Dilton in Wiltshire, unused now, but not de-consecrated. A most interesting, architecturally untouched, Georgian refurbished church. It is exceptionally austere for an Anglican church, yet has a noble dignity. The original Medieval box pews exist still and for a few moments you get a sense of what it must have been like to be part of the original congregation.
There is an unlocked (oh joy) bellows harmonium. I sat down and played Abide with Me.
To get access, the key is hanging at the top of the porch of a nearby house; the owner minds the church. The trust is so British. Obviously remember to put the key back afterwards.

A nature centre set in 15 acres of country park with alpacas, donkeys, chickens, rabbits, pigs & other animals, a tea room serving freshly cooked (and highly acclaimed) meals, a play area and small gift shop. The Hope Nature Centre is a registered charity that was set up in 2000 to help provide work placements for young adults with learning difficulties. We cater for groups, children's birthday parties and business breakfasts in a safe, disability friendly environment.
This is a place that we visit regularly when our grandchildren visit as they enjoy looking at the animals. There have been some new elements added since our last visit with a much improved activity area with a small climbing wall, balance beams, trampoline, slide, etc. There was also a (free) 9 hole crazy golf course, but this was not a great success as the concrete was very uneven and the lips of the flowerpots that had been sunk into the base to form the actual holes was raised above the level of the concrete so it was almost impossible to hit the balls in.

Came to spend the day with friends with children 1-7 years old.
The drive thru safari was brilliant and the children loved the monkeys climbing all over the car. There is an option to bypass this bit if you want to avoid this.
Unfortunately the lions were sleeping but still wonderful to see close up. I would of loved to see them roaming but I suppose it’s a good excuse to go back. You can go around the safari as many times as you like so I could of done that also!
The square is a great space and offers a variety of food and treats.
We all thoroughly enjoyed walking around the animal exhibits and we were given lots of opportunities to get up close to them.
The railway was a particular favourite amongst our group as was the boat.
We did have very good weather which I think made a difference. There wasn’t much that I could see for cover if it had of rained.
Although we spent ALL day there, we still didn’t get to see all of the park. I would recommend that if you’re only going for the day you pick which bits you definitely want to do. I think that you could spend two days there to get around it all.
We didn’t get time to look around the house but this is on our list for next time.
Only negative that I would say was the sweet shop! Wow... the prices in there are unjustifiable and I watched a family on 4 with a small bag of sweets each have a £27 bill. Crazy! I’ll be avoiding this when I return.

This hill is a famous landmark of Frome. It is an ancient street lined with quirky shops and on market Sunday, stalls and street merchants. Steep and cobbled it is the epitome of streets of this era and most charming.

Booked online, as it's cheaper. Beautiful sunny day when we visited. Walked through the Pleasure Walk from the bath arms down to the house. Fabulous opulent house. Friendly staff and guides in all the rooms able to answer any questions. Amazing furniture collection with some fabulous Boule work to admire. Nice Gardens to walk in and plenty for families to enjoy.

The monthly Frome Independent market is brilliant - and we've experienced plenty of markets. Loads of local produce from cheeses to micro brewery ciders and beers and juices to organic vegetables, meats - even water buffalo, pastries and cakes rivalling the best of any French patisserie.
There's live music, gorgeous smells wafting from pop up eateries and a huge brocante and collectibles area too. Far from not wanting to make eye contact with stallholders because you know you won't want anything, at this market you'll want nearly everything the quality is so high, but the prices aren't.
Don't forget the fabulous shops along Catherine Hill, especially the retro shops, the wonderful bead shop, Kerry's Top of The Hill, the 'hardware' emporium.
Just go!!

Visited with my children and friends children and to say the least the price of the food £3.00 for a panini and then pay for dry fillings on top of that price is disgusting. Not mention the rude and unfriendly attitude of the member of staff working I can certainly add more but i will not be revisiting anytime much prefer funways and other soft play centres around the area.
