A great monument with a spectacular panoramic view of Tatabanya-Ujvaros, Tatabanya-Dozsakert and Tatabanya-Kertvaros. Also, Szelim barland (Szelim cave) is a must see too, only 2 or 3 minutes walk from there. If you willing to walk about a mile there is a very tall outlook tower. Also 5 or so minutes walk from the monument, there is a playground for kids.

Seasonal opening hours, please check website.
It is a prehistoric settlement and you can get to know the life (=stuggle) of the prehistoric man at the old stone pit.
One of the most ancient (some hundred thousand years old) homo finds of Europe were discovered here in the 1960s.
It is really a spectacular site if you are a fan of history! :-)

This is a lovely wood that with nice wide, comfortable walking paths. The views are lovely and we enjoyed listening to the birds sing and the trees that were just leafing out. I did not find anything particularly educational about the trail but I wasn't there for that. I was there to enjoy a lovely afternoon stroll and that is exactly what I got!

This is a somewhat restored (still working on parts) Camaldulese order monastery, the tower is still in ruins. The monks of the order vowed silence, they could only speak a few times a year, their lives were spent praying and working in monastery Gardens growing plants and fruits. The hermitage cells and associated hunting villa is located in a beautiful environment. Among the cells is a faithfully furnished example to show the monks' daily lives. This is an Esterházy property, various photos of the family are in the villa. The hunting villa is fabulous, some of the paintings have been restored to their baroque grandeur. The castle's secret passageway connects with a fishing lake, whose shores have a good restaurant. At this point of the meridian lines converge, the place has a special aura. :-)

It was unfortunately foggy this day so we could not see the lake well but in regular weather, there is a café upstairs of the castle that has a wonderful view over the lake.
The castle has a collection of Roman remains and some furniture from the 18-19 century. Tata is a cute little village.

Although it's part of Tatabanya Museum, this outdoor part is situated in different part of city. You can see how not only miners have been working. There is also showed how mine map-makers or pressmen have been working. Of course, you will see mine vehicles and machines, visit artificial mine and see how craftmen worked back then.

Where all of our dear customers can find the widest range of wine and specialities especially from Neszmély and each region of the country.
Highly recommend this family runned wine shop for wine lovers.
Nice selection of Neszmélyi and Hungarian wines at really competitive prices, lovely and professional staff. What else would you need? :)
Worth to pop in to buy a glass or two :) for the sunday lunch or for a friday party or to surprise somebody with a nice present.

This attraction is a climbing route built on the mountain nearby the turul monument over the town. It includes four routes from "B" till "E" difficulties which give great climbing experience in safe conditions to everyone who longs for a challenge, sport or excitment. Me and my family have tried the "Road of seven leaders" - a "C/D" type where harder parts are alternating with easier. When we reached the top, our prize was the breathtaking view to Tatabánya town and the hills around. (Routes begin and end at the Turul monument parking place, so you don´t need to carry your backpacks with you).
Registration it´s required, it costs 2500 HUF ( cca 8 EUR valid for a year) and you can complete it at Vasaltutak Hungary through the internet, here you can also hire a via ferrata set (harness, helmet ...). complete set costs 2500 HUF/ day. The staff is proffesional, calm , helpful and willing, we could count on them everytime we needed.
We all had a very nice time and planning to return there again.

The whole furnishing, interior design and the feeling is out of the 70-80’s. You also can get 4 types of beer on tap, and the single place in the region with Belgian draft beers too. If you’re lucky you can try the wheel of fortune, where you can win a drink. The atmosphere is very cozy staff is polite, a really good place to spend some time especially on a break during the old Lake bicycle round.
