Vlad the Impaler stated his claim to Bucharest in 1459. His citadel on the Dambovita was the first of flotillas of palaces, many of which still stand. Four subway lines and a modern bus network transport visitors and commuters. Nicknamed "Little Paris", Bucharest's elegant early 20th-century architecture shows French influences. Don't miss the Village Museum, Romanian Athenaeum and the Peasant Museum. You can't miss the Palace of Parliament, the second-largest building in the world (after the Pentagon).

Modern cuisine. Holiday Closing Dates: 31 July 2017 – 14 August 2017.
We were never in any doubt regarding our menu choices – we both chose the superb tasting menu.
Set in an atmosphere of quiet and relaxing background décor, we looked forward with anticipation to the cuisine to come. And we weren't disappointed.
Spoonful servings in turn of each of the offerings of appetisers, mains and desserts were delicious. The spoons arranged in an artistic pattern by the waiter.
Interspersed were a couple of contributions courtesy of the house, including a celery based soup in a test-tube and another where the use of a freezing liquid was to great effect.
A novel accompaniment came with the desserts. A mortar containing herbs and spices had freezing liquid added to it by the Chef, who instructed us to immediately use the pestle to ground the solidified goodies. A scoop of ice cream was added and mixed with the flavourings, to give a most tasty fare.
On a return visit to Bucharest, here will be high on our menu of attractions.

Inspired by freshness!
Dining at Beca’s reminded me of eating at a good friend’s home, a friend who happily happens to be a great cook! In this case, the friend —Beca— is also the owner-chef of this small, cozy restaurant that plays relaxing/jazzy music...one where the main event is Beca’s food. While menu choices are clearly displayed on a chalkboard, Beca engages patrons in explaining the options. Then, she disappears into the kitchen to ensure the dishes presented are as visually appealing as they are exquisite to eat. Don’t miss a chance to unwind and enjoy this gem of a restaurant. And while you’re there, ask Beca how she got started...You’ll walk away enchanted and inspired. Kudos and continued success to this young woman who followed her dream! (Could Beca be Romania’s future “Barefoot Contessa” ???)

Hanu' - a cheerful place of delicious food! A place like few others in Bucharest! A place where being around a table is a habit, not a need! A place where you can taste the best dishes together with this jolly liquor people call beer. If you want to feast or rollick, Hanu' is the place to be! The place is big, 800 people can feast at once, the food is for all tastes and the cellar is always full. We have everything for everybody, all we need to know your wishes. Merry feasts!
Very elegant restaurant.
Duck with cabbage, good taste.
Grilled salmon with rice, also good.
Prices are fair for what you recieve.
Many waiters, so serving is moving very fast. Our waitress was a bit "aggressive", she didn't let us to check very well the menu, she came very fast trying to take the order .
The dishes looks nice.
Parking places are very hard to find near it.

I am not a "fish" person. Despite this, I started to go often to this small and very cozy restaurant (yes, it's very small & very cozy... sometimes people who don't know each other share nice words and find common friends, even if they are from different countries or continents! It happened to me! :)). Although its clientele is international, the fish is local and the recipes are traditional and simple (sometimes interpreted interestingly). So don't expect miracles, but just to enjoy a good and simple taste in your mouth. Coming back to fish, well, it's cooked by a wonderful cook, Mrs. Zina, who prepares it so that you want to lick your fingers (I do, sometimes). The prices are decent for the quality they offer (in the neighborhood there is another fish restaurant billing you 2-3 times more... it's true, the plate arrangements may be there more sophisticated, but I usually pay for taste, not for image - unless it's art...) You may find better prices in other locations, maybe, but you'll not find my review there...
As to the owners... Oana and Gabi are nice hosts, they smile or don't :), we're all people and can have bad days, right??, they always have a good treat for my (still) little boy, who is a very good friend with Zina. Relationships always matter... :)) It's a place I really enjoy on good and bad time, with or without rain, when I want to have a tasty lunch or dinner, in a nice environment... Enjoy!

Bucharest is not the best for Asian food, and it's really not a great place if you've got high standards for sushi. However, Yuki is a great place if you are craving Asian food, the one that's properly, traditionally cooked. They have a traditional Japanese menu that goes beyond sushi - a lot of barbecue, fish, noodles and soups which are fantastic. The staff is friendly and the decor takes you on a short journey to Tokio.
Yuki is one of my favourite restaurants in Bucharest, which I've visited many times and am always happy to go back.
Totally recommend!

Bistro GUXT is a cosy family owned restaurant, offering a delicious Mediterranean cuisine with a touch of Asian influences. Every dish is prepared with fresh ingredients while our desserts are made in-house. We offer an excellent selection of Romanian wines and international and Romanian craft beers, designed to be paired with our food. Open every day, except on Sun, Mon starting with 5:00 PM.
Well, what a surprise! We chose this bistro based upon TripAdvisor reviews and it did not disappoint. Even on a bitterly cold and snowy Bucharest evening we received an amazingly warm welcome.
We started with a wonderful foursome of Bruschetta, followed by duck breast and a light vegetable curry. Excellent cooking, service and all punctuated by story-filled visits from the manager. This all continued even though the lights went out for a few minutes. All capped off with a farewell from the chef and pastry chef.
All in all this was a great meal for 190 RON, including beer and wine. I’d highly recommend GUXT and it thoroughly deserves its high rating.

The space positioned at a historical address, in front of Europe’s largest building, has a capacity of 95 seats and a special two bars set-up targeted for exclusive live-cooking events. The socializing Mission, which we have declared since the naming, continues in the way our menu and design encourage big tables of families and friends. Our Menu follows the preferences of a young hearted public. We succeed in transforming special occasions into precious memories, whether they are personal celebrations or commercial events!
The place is nice, the location is really good and the stuff is kind of friendly(okayish), but the food was terrible. The hot chocolate with kinder bueno was nice, but the tiramisu was a real disappointment-it looks delicious in the photos, but it was not fresh at all. My friends got some French fries, schnitzel and carbonara pasta - they were not impressed as well. In 2 hours, another friend and I were sick. Definitely I am not recommending it for the food. And I am not going back there :)

We stopped here and STOCKED up on food on our way up to the Mountains (leaving Bucharest) and then again on our way back through Bucharest on our way to Mamaia. Super affordable and tasty. We just pulled up next to it put our flashers on, bought a ton of food, and took off. Had snacks for days :) Highly recommend for a quick affordable bite.
