The Jardim Botânico in Curitiba is well maintained and very clean. It’s not the biggest in size or diversity but the entrance is for free!

The colossal power of these thundering falls, viewable from both Argentina and Brazil, and accessible from Paraguay, is a mesmerizing sight: 275 separate falls in a U-shaped formation pound the water below in raging cascades with a deafening intensity.
We visited the Iguazu Falls from the Brazilian side one day and the Argentinian side the next. Both were nice and provided views of the Falls, which are amazing. The Brazilian side has a mostly downhill path with a few exceptions. There is an elevator to take you back to the top. This side allows you to get close at the Devil’s Throat lookout. Prepare to get wet, especially if it has rained in recent days. To get close to the Falls from the Argentinian side you have to walk down a number of steps and then walk back up them.
The Falls are the widest expanse of Falls in the world, spanning about 1 1/2 miles.

I came from new york to Brazil to visit my girlfriend's family. She lives at this little town called Quatro Barras. Not so far from there we heard there is a winery where we could go and sample some amazing wine. I have to tell...MoreHey Danny, thank you for your kind words, it was our pleasure to greet you and you are very welcome to come back any time you come back to Brazil.

This Cathedral is a landmark for Maringa, Parana State in Brazil.
Catedral de Maringá is a Roman Catholic Cathedral located in downtown Maringá, Paraná, Brazil, reaching 124 m in height ( 407 feet of height). It was completed in 1972 and is the tallest church in South America and the 16th tallest in the world.
Architect José Augusto Bellucci was inspired by the Soviet sputnik satellites when he designed the cathedral's modernist, conical shape.
If you go in a sunny day, quite easy to get in Maringa, the light plays inside this minimalist but impressive and tall structure turns concrete into a beautiful artwork.
Worth the trip.

Better read about Father Joseph Kentenich, a Pallottine priest and founder of the Schoenstatt Movement, before visiting!

This waterfall is reached more easily from Guarapuava, the road from Prudentopolis seems to be difficult (we only tried the one from Guarapuava though). In Guarapuava go towards the Parque das araucarias (Jardim botânico), and from there follow a small road to the north. There is a road sign! The road is narrow, but well paved until the last 6 km which is a dirt road (slow but very easy driving).
The 55 km road goes through very beautiful landscapes, and at the destination you will be stunned by the 200 m high waterfall. We had just been to Iguaçu, and we were not disappointed. There is a short (less than 1 km) trail that has several viewpoints of the falls and another waterfall as well.
Near the falls there is a small and simple bar serving several foods and snacks. Toilets are not very clean though.

Sorry to say I expected better presentation. Building are cute and historical items interesting but the distribution not good! Grouped around the fake lake nothing to say.
Several on top of hill very crowded and the typical dressed Dutch people blocked all the pathways.
Why did they overpower the tourists?
They did try to enliven shops and home life presentations, but fake animals and crowds not impressive.

Throughout the whole Campos Gerais region, Parana State, you can see geomorphologic features, the "Furnas", generated by the colapse of subterraneous caves in the sandstone. Some of them are in Vila Velha State Park but if you want to enter in one of them you should go to the Buraco do Padre complex, also at Ponta Grossa (PR).
You can reach the Buraco do Padre following the (few) signs in the city. After 1-h trip, mainly on pavemented road, prepare yourself to walk 800 meters on a plain trial but to enter the hole there are some rocks to escale (it is not for ordinary elders nor small children).
The interior is amazing! A natural theater of water and rocks.
In the site there are not visitors reception and the washingrooms are bad conserved, but you could stop in your way back at two good places to rest - Porto Brazos (graspberries jellys, wine and spirits) or Kafee Loch (tea party in the farm).

I stay the morning period at Praia do Farol, it was great, calm sea perfect for a good swim, specially for kids. But be prepared to take your chairs, beach umbrella, food and beverages. The place does not have infrastructure to provide any of these things.
