Hidden behind some large bushes, this really is a Gem, the wonder was walking about asking how we liked it, and explaining how everything worked, and how long it takes to construct everything. We spent a good hour walking around, taking photographs. They will even let you drink your own coffee on the benches. A very very friendly place. There is also a little quiz to o as you go round.

Love theatre, film, music, comedy and Exhibitions? Then you'll love The Atkinson. The museum Between Land and Sea: 10,000 years of Sefton's Coast with the permanent exhibition Discover Ancient Egypt featuring The Goodison Collection means Sefton finally has a place to share its history. With Children's theatre, some of the biggest names in comedy, music and art The Atkinson really is a cultural pick 'n' mix for all the family. The Atkinson is a focal point for the town centre. Set in a grade II listed building in the centre of Lord Street in Southport. The Atkinson is managed and run by Sefton Council. Please check our website for full opening hours. The Museum & Exhibitions are open 10am - 4pm Monday to Saturday and 11am -4pm on a Sunday. We are only open on Sunday during Sefton School Holidays.
Do visit the 2nd floor where the Southport Exhibition is. Most interesting, and the connection with P T Barnum who married Nancy Fish, his second wife on Valentine's Day, the day of our visit, and we had just seen The Greatest Showman at the cinema. The gift shop has a very good range of Southport memorabilia too and other lovely gifts. Not forgetting the changing Exhibitions on the lst floor, A must to visit when in Southport

The kids love coming here as there is something for everyone. Great little caffe that sells all sorts of things not just food. Get really busy in the summer though so always best to get over handy. For those who would sooner take their own their is plenty of space to sit around the play area where you can sit on a blanket and watch the kids have fun.

A lovely Sunday walk despite the cold and slight drizzle. The aviary is small with some interesting birds. Wish there was more information on the type of birds. Would love to come back here on a beautiful day to walk around the garden.
