It is a delight to explore the landscaped Gardens and discover all the temples, fake ruins, statues, Fountains and even a mosque. I saw a lot of birds too: ducks, geese, swans, herons and even a tree full of parakeets. Probably escaped parakeets, who found a new home in the park. It is a huge park and it will take 2-3 hours to see everything. And to rest your feet afterwards, there is a café in the Gardens and another one across the ticket office.
Practical info:
The visit of the Schloss can easily be done as a day trip from Heidelberg, it is only half an hour by bus 717. Several tickets available for visiting the gardens/castle. I opted for a guided tour of the castle and visit of the Gardens = 10 €. Daily tours are in German, in the weekend also tours in English. While the guided tour was interesting for the history, I found the interior of the castle not that impressive. The baroque Gardens are the absolute star here.

The Old Town of Heidelberg starts from Sofienstrasse and brings you to the castle. In the middle there is the University Area (the oldest university in Germany), the main shopping street (Hauptstrasse) and it includes to famous Karl-Theodor-Bridge / the Old bridge.
Very beautiful town. It will take 15minutes to walk to the bridge from.mid town. It was good walk. There are many restaurants and souvenir shops around the bridge. Food was also great. Nice view.

Imagine there is a playground that was built involving kids of all ages. Sounds like fun instead of boaring standard equipment. There are even bathrooms - and belive it or not: It's free.
Unfortunately it's that good, that people come from all over, so especially during the holiday season it's pretty crowded.

Construction on this regal castle, the symbolic heart of the city, began in the early 1300s.
It's a beautiful City of Heidelberg! It was interesting and amazing to know how Heidelberg was planned and built, together with the castle, in the 13th century.
Heidelberg is considered one of the most beautiful cities in Germany. Take the Cable Car to make your Tour complete.. amazing!

This famous path along the Neckar River has been frequented by numerous famous philosophers throughout history.
We took this hike all the way to the monastery at the very top of the mountain. The whole thing there and back was 4 hours of hiking. It was February but still a wonderful hike. Highly recommended. Definitely a highlight of our trip in Heidelberg.

Loved this bowling alley. This is a modern and stylish contemporary bowling alley with lanes by Brunswick. The price is very cheap, €3.50 per person. Renting shoes is €2.50. My only gripe is that the holes in some of the smaller balls like a size 6 and 7, have finger holes that are too small for me and I'm a woman with skinny fingers. So I had to use a bigger heavier ball just to be able to grip it adequately. But this minor thing didn't diminish my enjoyment of the bowling.
On top of the bowling, they have fantastic games like pool, basketball hoops and air hockey. Pool is only €8 per hour pro rata, so you only pay for the minutes you've used. We went at 10am on Sunday morning so it was really quiet when we were there. Bliss. Friendly but unintrusive staff that spoke English. A great place to indulge one's games habits and competitive streaks and let stress go. Get lost in the lanes :)
