Fourth time here and not one disappointment. The food is great, another level in comparison to any other restaurant in Melbourne. The service fantastic and professional with some of the best Italians in Australia. The owner is a careful and caring person, always there, for anything you need. If I could I would come back tomorrow

Step back in time as you enjoy your meal in a friendly relaxed family run business.
Just arrived in Melbourne and went to trendy Carlton, not sure what to expect from this Italian restaurant. It didn't start off well, There was only a half portion of Cannelloni left for me, my partner had the last full portion. I has happy to have only the half portion with a salad. Lori the owner was distraught that there was not enough for a full portion for me.So she offered me any alternative I wanted, didn't"charge for the salad, offered us both a sweet and a liquor. I then asked if she could order a taxi for us, she went outside to get a taxi, because were difficult to obtain she even offerd the taxi driver a coffee to take us back to our hotel. Talk about going the extra mile. By the way the Cannelloni was great.

Housed in an elegant triple-fronted Victorian Terrace, past the bohemian enclave of Melbourne’s famous ‘Brunswick Street’offering seasonal contemporary Australian cuisine and professional hospitality since 1994.Awarded a minimum of 1 hat in the coveted “Age Good Food Guide” every year since 1996.
For our wedding reception in October 2017 we chose Matteo's - we've always loved our experiences there, and measure all our culiinary experiences by this establishment. With only 30 of us, we booked the Venetian room, and as it was lunch on Saturday, they opened just for us and we had the place to ourselves, so our best man could serenade us with his acoustic guitar.
We had asked for our guests to be greeted with a glass of bubbly, a beer or soft drink on arrival, and we were pleased to find that they had opened the back room for guests to mingle before being seated - we hadn't expected this!
The Venetian room itself was laid out beautifully, and one of our guests reported "this is the best food I've ever had at a wedding!" Service was attentive but not intrusive; the courses came out at perfect intervals; it had been no problem at all to modify the menu to remove all nuts (to cater to our guest with a nut allergy); instead of either the drinks package or open wine list, it was no problem for us to give a short list of 5 wines for our guests to choose from; in short, nothing was too big an ask.
We have already returned with a smaller group of 6 on Christmas Eve, and we will continue returning to Matteo's to celebrate our special occasions. We could not recommend this place more. If you haven't been, you must go soon!

I love Tibas. It is a Sydney rd institution and is simply fabulous. Cheap, cheerful and authentic. The falafel is delicious, lamb cutlets are awesome as well as the spicy sausage. They even do gluten free tabouli now! Would recommend getting one banquet meal between 2-3 people as the servings are huge. Always a go to and they are open late.

A great place to share fabulous Middle Eastern dishes with family and friends. Started with variety of dips then stacks of shared smalls and mains - spicy chicken wings, meatballs, eggplant, lamb (fantastic) and more. Wine and cocktails a winner too. Upmarket place with friendly vibe. Every table on our night was having a great time. Plenty of parking in side streets.

I've previously enjoyed breakfast at the Fitz.
I went for lunch and decided to have three share plates between the two of us.
We ordered corn fritters, veg spring rolls, and Peking duck.
I estimate that the plates on which the food arrived measured 6cm across. Piled high with lettuce.
The corn fritters were two little balls, and the only share plate approaching value for money thanks to the salmon on top and the filling nature of the fritters.
The veg spring rolls was actually one spring roll cut into three Beatles among lettuce.
The Peking duck share plate had four morsels of duck meat about the size of my thumbnail - they were merely a garnish on top of a pile of lettuce and coriander.
The serving sizes of the food were so small I can't see how anyone in their right mind can call these share plates.
Disappointed.

A colleague put me onto this restaurant and it was great.
The entree was to die for. Cannot remember the exact name, but it was a shaved meat/charcuterie dish with buffalo cheese and Parmesan cheese. That was absolutely enough for me and 2 other of my table as it was magnificent!
But then onto the mains....
The Dry aged beef was incredible. My cut was rib eye on the bone 'rare' and it was incredible. Cooked to perfection.
I didn't have dessert, but of the 5 of us, 4 did. Three had Tiramisu and wait for it - they bring out the biggest bowl of all time and give the biggest piece possible.
All said it was amazing.
Total cost with entrees, main meal and 4 (of 5) desserts was incredibly reasonable for the quality of food and 3 bottles of wine.
Not for kids at all and was very surprised they did not cater at all for vegetarians.
Definitely will go again.

The environment is attractive and comfortable, and the tasting menu was excellent, as were the accompanying wines. Service was, for the most part, excellent, except towards the end when we were moved from the dining room to the bar to finish our meal. At that point we seemed to have become lesser people, and the wait for our cheese course was irritating.
It is understandable that a popular restaurant like this should want to maximise their throughput, but if a tasting menu with accompanying flight of wines is on offer, the reservation system should allow enough time for this to be enjoyed. Perhaps the accountants are taking control!

Hellenic Republic is a traditional Greek taverna with a contemporary twist - perfect for modern Melburnians! Our food philosophy is simple – fantastic, fresh produce to prepare traditional recipes in a clean, contemporary style. At Hellenic, kefalograviera saganaki is served with sweet peppered figs; local wines are served by the half litre and succulent meats are cooked over char coal.We recommend our Trapezi menu as the best way to dine at Hellenic Republic, where our chefs prepare a selection of our finest dishes for guests to share. The restaurant seats 120 guests, or alternatively can accommodate up to 220 standing guests for a stand up cocktail function.
What a great night out. Excellent food and service in an interesting bustling crowded restaurant. The waiting staff were very helpful in adjusting the sizes and selections we made from the menu to give us a tasty meal. The highlights among the selections were the Fava dip and the Sardines.
