Found this little gem, almost by accident. Impressive collection of Lowestoft maritime objects and photographs overseen by a really helpful and knowledgable manager. We took grandchildren with us on this visit and they were also captivated by the display.

Enjoy unlimited rides on vintage buses, trams and trolleybuses.
Today was the first time we have ever been to the transport museum and now I wonder why we never came before! What a wonderful atmospheric place with such friendly people.
We were greeted at the car park and shown where to get our tickets, we were told about gift aid and noticed many people in the que with myself saying they didn't want to do it, by ticking that your entry fee be gift aided it costs you nothing more and helps the museum a lot, you also get given a ticket for a revisit just for doing so! So I wanted mention that.
We were next greeted by a lovely lady in a little hut who gave us a little quiz to fill out with little questions that could only be answered if you paid attention to the exhibits which I think is a fab way of getting the children engaged! The questions were interesting and fairly easy and the prizes were wonderful!! Not your normal flimsy medal reward stuff! They had - 8 balls for fortune telling, - light up magic wands that can be worn as necklaces and some funny joke eye glasses to name a few, my son was over the moon with his 8 ball! And I heard many of the children playing with theirs and asking questions along the way on the trams!
Speaking of the trams, those and the trolley bus and train were wonderful well kept vechiles especially for their age and the drivers were jolly and in good spirits each one has so much time for you cracking a joke or ready to answer any question you had, the only thing criticizing I have to say is that I wish the journeys were longer on the vechiles, especially the train, I felt like by the time I got on it was time to get off of it so it would have been so much better if it hadn't been so short lived....I wish they had the money to expand somehow, It would be amazing if they had more room, that's the only thing I'd change, it seems like everything is spot on and everything is wonderful but all in a small area, an expansion would be wonderful if it's at all possible!! I loved the little shops and garage and postoffice, honestly it's like your own little world in that place!!
Our family had a wonderful time and I'd recommend to everyone. Thank you a much for a lovely time.

With London grandchildren on Easter holiday before the local schools broke up, we had the run of the zoo more or less to ourselves and had a very good day out.
We chose to visit the smaller animals and enclosures first, a good decision and were delighted to see that most of them were readily visible. We walked through the sheep and lemurs and strolled up to the "home farm" where the grandchildren were fascinated by the newly born goats and newly hatched tortoises. We walked back through the Woodland walk and saw all of the birds in their various enclosures.
Braving the cold we ate our picnic by the Children's play area and then set off for the larger part of the zoo, intent upon getting all of the stamps on the map in order to claim the medals. We watched the lions beng fed (they weren't very interested) and the cheetahs too (they were not very interested either). From there to the rhinos and the zebra and then down the hill to the African cattle, Lemur Island and back via the giraffes for a final play.
This zoo, in common with its sister, Banham Zoo, specialises in rearing endangered species. It was very heartening to see so many recently born or hatched animals and of great interest to the grandchildren. It makes a good day out even when it's very cold!

This is a magnificent country house (Tudor/Jacobean) set in the heart of the East Anglian countryside. For me the Gardens we truly superb but unless you are prepared to walk a little a bit on the extensive side. However this effort will be truly appreciated if you can achieve it. From a personal perspective we much enjoyed the gigantic yew and monkey puzzle trees. If you are feeling really energetic make your way up to the maze!
Inside there is much to admire and the forty-five minute tour give you a pleasant taster of what you can enjoy at your leisure later. We particularly enjoyed some of the dramatic oil painting in the library and the huge stuffed polar bears and rhinocerous skull in one of the rooms.
Ona sunny day, Somerleyton is a delightful place to enjoy a picnic and to be enthralled by the stunning views across the bucolic countryside

We visited here a couple of weeks ago and were quite lucky with both the weather and parking managing to locate a space within a few minutes of arriving. The harbour area was very pretty and the beach was as good as i have been on(Cornwall aside). The town is not over spoilt with amusements however there is still plenty for families and the youngsters to enjoy. Our fish and chips were as good as any we had enjoyed anywhere before.....as for Lowestoft,i agree and would call it a very traditional seaside which fortunately does not seem to become over populated......really enjoyed our day here.

It is a little run down now however if you get the right offer then its a bargain and a yearly ticket does seem a bargain for what it is!
Just hope they start some decent renovation and also get to grips with the general upkeep!

The Museum is housed inside Broad House, a grade 2 listed building dating from 1685, in the grounds of Nicholas Everitt Park. Lowestoft Museum collects, preserves and displays objects relating to the history of the area and its people, and promotes awareness and interest in our rich heritage.
Located in the lovely Nicolas Everett park we stumbled across this little gem of a museum. It contains roman and medieval artefacts found in the area including fossils, roman coins, pots etc. Everything is displayed beautifully and very clearly labelled. There is also a large collection of Lowestoft Pottery items as well as many other items of local interest. A great little museum and right next door to a kids play area and small boating lake and tea rooms.

110 seat community theatre A not for profit arts venue offering a broad range of drama, dance and music Performances throughout the year. As well as our main auditorium we have three studio spaces available for hire to all types of local groups. Our large studio is ideal for dance and aerobics groups as well as drama rehearsals or just meeting spaces. We offer a friendly and inclusive environment for all parts of our local community and welcome approaches from local groups seeking partnerships. We rely on a large team of dedicated volunteers to run our venue and new opportunities are always available for those wishing to give us some of their valuable time
It's in a strange place for a theatre, but The Seagull is a place that inspires loyalty and love in its users. It can get very hot and cramped, but forgive it that and you'll find an extremely wide-ranging programme at ridiculously cheap prices. The building is almost constantly in use by the community, with everything from yoga lessons to a Warhammer group making use of its studios. Almost everyone is a volunteer - it really is a labour of love. There are quizzes, karaoke, poetry nights... It's more than a theatre. Join in!
