Ok, we are spoiled by huge, dazzling, deserted shell sand Beaches at home so perhaps this was why we were underwhelmed by this one. It's nice but not wow.Worth a longish trip just to see it? No.
It is however, a white sand beach which makes it lovelier in my eyes, than Kvalvika or Bunes Beaches.
We were staying in the area anyway for a few days so the beach was nice for a stroll. During summer, there were lots of camper vans and tents pitched at the back of it which detracts a bit from any sense of wildness. There is a small settlement(Haukland) behind the beach also.
The circular coastal walk round to Uttakleiv, a more dramatic spot, is well worth it though.Great, easy hike and even going part way up Mannen gives great coastal views too.

Welcome to Lofoten Yogastudio in the heart of the small fishing village of Stamsund! A nice and clean studio offering a calm atmosphere and beautiful view of the inner harbour. The classes are mindful and well instructed; suitable for beginners as well as more advanced yogis. Some classes are held outside in magical environment by the seashore, or in combination with hikes in the Lofoten Mountains
What a surprise to find Yoga in Stamsund. Mona is running a very nice studio and I joined her morning class. A beautiful way to start the day and a great experience on my trip to the Lofoten. The studio is neither far from the Youth Hostel nor from the center! If you do not find open classes on the website, just ask Mona directly.

This is a must place to visit - so charming and peaceful. It's a bit away from center Lofoten - and you pass a stunning beach on the way (Haukland) that might entice you to stop - but keep on through a tunnel and then suddenly the tiny village appears in front of you, surrounded on 3 sides by big Mountains. And then a GIANT beach. Magic...

Meet the Vikings! At Borg in Lofoten, the largest longhouse in the world of the Vikings has been found - and reconstructed. Upon entering the 83 meter longhouse, you embark on a journey more than an 1000 years back in time. In addition to the Viking Chieftain's house, the museum offers modern exhibition halls with archaeological artifacts, and the story of the finding and excavation of Borg. In the film theatre, we show a short drama-film. During summer, the Viking ship is moored at the seaside, 20 min walk from the Chieftain's house. June 15 - end August guests may participate in Viking activities, such as rowing the Viking ship and trying their hand at archery. All year, different Viking meals are being served, check web for more info. The museum is open all year - check home page for hours as it varies through the year.
We were traveling on the Hurtigruten and took the optional excursion, “Meet The Vikings”. What an absolute waste of money. £111 per person ( yes that’s right) was a total rip off. We spent more time on the coach travelling to/from the docks in Stamsund and Svolvaer than we did at the actually venue. We were hoping to learn about the Viking history but we got nothing worthwhile. These people put this performance on 362 days a year and you expect better. The “acting” was woeful and they spent more time mocking their “servant” and yelling “skol” than actually telling us about the Viking history. The food and drink offered was also average at best. A plate full of lamb and vegetables and glass of mead. Mead is so sweet and not everyone’s idea of a dinner drink but besides water, nothing else was on offer. Surely it’s not a stretch to expect a glass of wine with dinner when you’re paying £111 per person. Overall, very disappointed. We learned nothing of the culture/history and basically had a very expensive coach ride. We should have stayed on the ship. The whole thing was a rush. No time to visit the museum, which people rave about. The compulsory detour through the gift shop on the way to the bus and that was it. We did 6 excursions on out Hurtigruten cruise and this one was by far the most disappointing and the most over priced of all. Just give it a total miss. Museum might be a different story but I couldn’t comment based on our experience.

At Ballstad, on Vestvagoy island, the track starts at Kraemmervika and leads up on the hills with great views over Ballstad and surrounding area. The track is not signposted but it is clear and starts just behind the fish drying racks. It is moderate in difficulty, as it is steep at some points and muddy. Once you reach the plateau you can scroll around and admire the view, before you continue to the top. Return trip from the same track takes about 3-3 1/2 hours.

This famous glassblowing studio makes lovely artistic pieces. Watching the process is fascinating, and one is encouraged to take photos. The furnace and shop are located in a very modern wooden building, with grass roof on the seashore. That alone is worth the visit. Opposite is the eccentrically built but excellent cafe. Well worth the trip.

This is a very pleasant hike amidst beautiful scenery. Despite an elevation gain of around 700 meters the climb is always gentle and never gets very demanding. The views on the final part of the hike and on the top are fantastic, but to be fair we loved every part of this trail. You walk in the middle of ponds and little lakes and Valleys and the scenery is lovely from start to end. To complete the hike while taking a few photos breaks you'll probably need between 3 to 4 hours at an average pace. You can drive to the antenna were the hike starts but there isn't much parking space there so it's probably better to park on the asphalt road and walk on the gravel road to the antenna.
