Fishrestaurant with stockfish as our speciality Svinoya Rorbuer includes one of the most distinctive restaurants in the Lofoten Islands. The "Borsen Spiseri" is housed in a venerable quayside warehouse dating back to 1828, and considerable emphasis has been placed on maintaining the building's original features. Most of the building's historical attributes have been preserved, providing an atmosphere with an aroma of tar and rope. The dishes that are served here, are made from Lofoten's unique and fresh, local ingredients. Borsen Spiseri is open every day 18:00 - 22:00 and have 120 seats! Borsen Spiseri fit for any occasion Whether you come alone, with your family, friends or with all your colleagues, we guarantee to do our utmost to ensure that you will be satisfied. Guaranteed unique and fresh, local ingredients Both meat and fish dishes are served here, made from Lofoten's unique and fresh, local ingredients. Our focus is on local produce and our speciality is stockfish delivered from the fish factory 50 meters away. In the same building we find the former "krambua" or old general store, which is a tiny museum in its own right. Old wares and equipment from bygone times still hang from the ceiling there, taking you 100 years back in time.
Our stay in Svolvaer was enhanced by wonderful fish dinners at this waterfront restaurant. Charming interior and friendly service. We were offered a complimentary clam chowder soup shot - delicious. Entree was salmon and mains the cod of course. Lovely evening and delicious well prepared food.

We went here on a grey July evening. The place was packed but staff efficient and friendly. I had the cod dish, which was good but not too exciting. Unfortunately a part of a plastic lid had found its way into my dish, but this situation was handled in a good manner by the staff when I told them. My friend had the mussels which apparently were lovely - very generous portions though so make sure you have a solid appetite or you may want to consider sharing.

The food, ambiance, and staff were great. I went back several times for meals or just a coffee and enjoyed every moment. Highly recommended.

Nice setting, great food, wine and service.
The restaurant is expensive but so is everywhere in Norway,we knew that so were not surprised. Although the wine was very expensive at around £50 for a Spanish dry white [nice though]
For 2 courses with a beer and a bottle of wine allow about £200 per couple

Kjokkenet (The Kitchen) is one of Lofotens most popular and appreciated restaurants. Serving only traditional food with local flavours, we seek to give you the feeling of being in your grandmother's kitchen. We give our menus seasonal varieties, and we try to only use local suppliers.
Visited this place hoping for a nice dinner with good food. Nothing could be more wrong. I choose for first course shrimps, asked before ordering if the shrimps was locally fished and got the answer they where. When the dish arrived it was a few shrimps, originated in Asia, simmering in fat on a large plate. The main course was supposed to be fried cod tounges (a local speciality). A meal I have enjoyed before, here they
came in soggy and some of the meat dissolved to a sticky mess, others not cooked. With this came a few potatoes, a small container of butter, which the menu said should be browned, which it wasn't and last a remoulade sauce that didn't resemble anything like it. The cook must be totally untrained. This food wouldn't have been served in any restaurant but still I had to pay for it. The rest of the parties food was just like mine. This is a real tourist trap, nice interior but once you sit down and order you will be cheated on.

They serve pizza, kebab, gyros, burgers....the young guy speaks English and is very friendly. The food is very good for Norwegian standards. Don’t expect traditional, home cooked Italian food though. It’s quick, hot and tastes good. Prices are more than fair!
Oh and a very big plus: when asked for water they bring you a big glass of tap water and don’t charge for it. Good service.
Would certainly recommend.

Like many fellow TripAdvisor contributors I can tire very easily of the local cuisine whenever on holidays overseas, so I look for Chinese, Thai or Indian restaurants just for something with lots of vegetables - difficult in this very cold region.
Nihao was a very average meal for me. Service was great - and even inquiring if we'd prefer chopsticks and bowl (as we do like to eat in this way and share all the dishes).
I would have liked a Sichuan pork or chicken dish but they only had it for lamb. The dishes we chose though were not the flavours I was wanting from my "Chinese" meal.
The pork in the char siu sauce was quite nice and tender and juicy and tasty, as sometimes when they reheat the char siu pork it can become dry. The selection of vegetables was a little better than our last sojourn into "Chinese" food. There was a nice selection of more than three cubes of capsicum, the obligatory canned water chestnuts, bamboo shoots and some baby corn - at least the dish looked colourful and wasn't dominated by canned water chestnuts and bamboo shoots.
But unfortunately all of the three dishes seemed to be drowned out by the very dark soya sauce gravy, which for me had a strong caramel taste and subsequently also a lot saltier than I like. I prefer my stir fries to use a light or medium soya sauce with the dark used in braised dishes for colour.
It was an okay meal just too much dark soya sauce.

For husband's birthday we wanted a special meal where it all worked, and it did. The room and ambience is 'old norwegian', the staff helpful, attentive but not pressing and the food especially good. The cooking was modern norwegian, that is, good ingredients, appropriately cooked, nothing outlandish (unless you count whale), and tasty. Very good sized portions, so huge piece of halibut, veg and potatoes. A meal much enjoyed.

Restaurant Vestfjord has been a big hit since it`s introduction. We welcome you to exciting norwegian courses, good wines and reasonable prices. Why not come and try our signature dish - grilled clipfish!
Absolutely excellent food. We chose the duck and the cod with herbs. The young waiter was very helpful and service minded. It was perfectly priced according to the quality.
I would suggest to the restaurant to give a small sample after ordering as we waited a bit more than 30 min before we got served, like a bread with paté or something to make the time go a bit quicker.
