The main attraction may be the huge dam and all the crystal clear water, but what they have the most of at Silent Valley are lovely trails. Trails for all ages and conditions, The grounds are well cared for and most attractive in the summer when everything is in bloom. Some trails run along the valley floor and up gently slopes, while others are fairly daunting as they climb the side of the Mountains. The views are beautiful and in some places spectacular. There are refreshments available as well as toilets, but it wouldn't hurt to bring your own food and beverages for greater variety.

A seafood cookery school located beside Kilkeel Harbour.
Got this as a Xmas gift took to end of may to actually get on the course - u use the term course lightly it's 3hours long at a cost of £50 with 20 in the same course £1.000..
Worth it it perhaps if ANYONE from Mourne as Food restaurant was in ANY way involved. When it's sold as Belfast cookery school at Mourne at Food I sort of expected at lease one of the Chefs to be taking the course . Sadly no !
They wheel in a chef who teaches at the MET college! So in my view a waste of time . . He was good enough and qualified but not what I expected or was paying for £50 to learn to cook Risotto and a tasteless Vegetarian dish .. I expected a LOT more It's a Great way to raise money though?

Annalong Cornmill, which was in operation from the early 1800s until the 1960s, was restored in 2014 to incorporate a new multi-media display. Three stories are told within the mill : 1. The Mill was used by local farmers who brought their sacks of oats to be milled into oatmeal. Learn about the processes involved in milling and about how this mighty water wheel provided power to this picturesque building. 2. The Harbour played a key role in the life of people from Annalong and the surrounding area, exporting precious Mourne Granite and importing coal for the kiln. 3. Mourne Granite is renowned for its quality. Learn more about life of a stone man and the skills that were required to work in this industry. OPENING - Please note that this is a seasonal facility (April - September). Groups can be facilitated outside of the displayed opening hours. Please telephone to make arrangements.
The title says it all. I have made 9 trips to show friends the Corn Mill in Annalong. Every time we end up taking dozens of photos and spending much more time that we had planned. It is absolutely a lovely spot. Nearby restaurants provide good food and a place to rest after your visit to the harbor and mill.

This is an unpretentious gem. Clean, light and bright with greAt views of the harbour this is a very attractive place to ear. The food is unpretentious but good value, well cooked and nicely presented. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Although they were coping with two coach parties they welcomed us "walk-ins", seated us straight away, took our orders promptly and there was no long wait for our food which was clearly freshly cooked. Recommended!!

This Norman castle that once guarded the entrance to Carlingford Lough is worth a visit if you’re in the Mournes. Entrance is free, and there are some information boards, but apart from that you’re pretty much on your own. Safety rails have been installed to allow the fit to climb Hugh, which I recommend for the impressive views, especially if you’re a photographer.

The Nautilus Centre is worth visiting while in Kilkeel, located at Kilkeel Harbour. We picked up things to do during our stay in the Tourist Informaton centre. For those who are interested in fishing there is a great range of fishing rods and tackle available. You can also browse round the nautical gifts and jewellrey and we also enjoyed the Maritime photographic display. There is plenty of parking infront of the building where we watched the fishing boats coming in and out of the harbour, while we enjoyed a nice ice cream. We then took a walk around Kilkeel town centre which has a good range of gift and various shops. We stopped of for lunch in Rustons restaurant at the Kilkmorey Arms Hotel and had a lovely meal with friendly service. Kilkeel is a great place to stop of while visiting the Mourne Mountains.
