The food was to die for, The service was polite and prompt, the presentation was better than the"Mona Lisa", it looked beautiful and tasted scrumptious. Atmosphere relaxing and a touch of class for a special night with friends.

PJ O Hare's is a multi-award winning Gastro Pub, awarded Best Gastro Pub in Louth six times (including 2017) at The Irish Restaurant Awards. Focusing on local, fresh dishes, our menu is varied and has something to suit all tastes at budgets! PJ's is also Carlingford's most popular spot for nightlife with live music every night of the week from the top bands in the area. With something for everybody from young to old and single travellers, couples and large parties, PJ's really is the place to be!
St Patrick's Day is always a gamble to eat in any popular establishment, but we have it a go. The food was absolutely delicious, as usual. The staff are probably the friendliest around, especially Laoise, Christina and Stephen. The doormen are the most welcoming guys you could ever meet, especially Colly. The whole place is just a melting pot of fun and good natured craic. The pint of Arthur is probably the best in the country... I haven't tasted better anywhere else.

Built in 1727, Ghan House is a 4* AA rated, fully restored, family run Georgian House now in its 24th year of continuous business with 19 years of awards and nominations (see bottom of page). We are one of the oldest private houses of its' type in Ireland a tree length from Medieval Carlingford with 3 acres of walled mature Gardens. All of Carlingford's ancient buildings dating as far back at 1210; from King John's Castle, the Dominican Friary, Mint. Taaffe's Castle and old town wall are within a 2 minute walk from our front door. The Tholsel, Medieval Carlingford's old town gate is just 30 metres from our walls. We are in a wonderful location just one hour from both Dublin and Belfast and two of Ireland's three World Heritage sites are within easy driving distance - just 45 minutes to Newgrange and a 120 minute drive to the stunning Giant's Causeway. In addition the recently opened Titanic museum in Belfast and the Dublin Convention Centre are both just a one hour drive from our gates. Ghan House is an oasis of Georgian ambience, Gardens and fine dining with beautiful views from every room of Carlingford Lough, The Mourne Mountains or Slieve Foy . We have 12 bedrooms in total ~ 4 in the Main House (1 single and 3 double) and 8 Garden bedrooms located 10 yards to the side of the Main House. All double & twin bedrooms have bath & shower en-suite, mountain views, CD/ipod player, digital 32" smart TV and Wi-fi is free. The combination of old world charm allayed with modern requirements seamlessly dovetail together to give a thoroughly unique experience. The individuality of the house lends itself to weddings, usually on an exclusive use basis, private dining for special birthdays & hen nights and corporate hospitality - all enjoying the comforts of a private bar, log fires & candlelight. We also have private parking, a lockable shed for bicycles and 2 little homes in the stable for dogs. We have a small dedicated team - Orla & Sarah in the office, Clare & Olavi front of house, Dara, Leanne and Orla 2 serving breakfast and of course our award winning kitchen team led by Head Chef, Stephane le Sourne. All of this is overseen by Paul Carroll. His mother Joyce Carroll is semi-retired ~ she attends to the herb & vegetable Gardens, the flowers in the house, some cookery demonstrations and visits to approximately 14 grandchildren.
We stayed here in January for dinner and B+B. The evening meal was excellent and the service was very good too. Our room had recently been refurbished to a very high standard. A good fry rounded off the weekend. Thanks to Paul and Team.

Not cheap at all. However I keep going back as food always great . Wine that bumps the price up. Which is personal choice of course. Will be back ..... when saved up again.?

We are a beautiful little personal restaurant right in the center of a Medieval Village called Carlingford. Co. Louth. We provide a wonderful array of beautiful meals... Carlingfords only Michelin rated restaurant. We also have 7 beautiful B & B rooms located on our premises. We serve not only the freshest of produce, fish, meats and everything else on our premises. Our poly tunnel supplies us a lot of the year with fresh herbs, salad leaves from our garden which is also on site. We serve freshly ground coffee and lovely cups of tea in the morning and it is a delight to walk through our little garden on a summers evening. We have 2 private function rooms which can hold up to 40. Christenings, Communions, Birthdays, all occasions, specializing in our service for pre-wedding meals.
This was hands down the best meal I have had in Ireland during my 4 months here. I went with the duck, which was amazing!, the Cesar salad - very creative approach and the chorizo was a nice surprise. Carlingford is a fantastic town and this restaurant plays to the town itself - very aesthetically pleasing, friendly and worth every penny!

We are an Irish traditional pub that serves pub grub at a high standard downstairs, a disco bar upstairs that attracts a crowd of all age groups at the weekend and a banquet hall in the castle, enjoy cheers
This boy Ryan behind the bar is a serious bit of craic hey he is just a sound lad altogether. Can’t believe he isn’t higher up in the organization. Great at pouring pints needs a raise he also has female parts apparently.
Pat out (mic drop)

My husband and I were in need of a peaceful oasis this evening...Carlingford can get very hectic at weekends and as locals you don't necessarily want to compete with hen parties, loud music and wedding guests all the time. Schooners restaurant in McKevitt's is the perfect solution. There's a lovely buzz but space to relax. The choice of red wines is the best in Carlingford and prices are pretty average for the area. On this occasion, my husband had lamb shank and I had duck confit. With the nights getting colder and darker both meals were the perfect Antidote....tasty, flavoursome and warming. We couldn't fault either. We shared a beautiful desert of plum and almond tart. Service was prompt, professional and friendly and we left with nothing but praise for our experience.

I visited on a Sunday night, the aftermath of an Irish rugby win and multiple hen weekend still alive in the village. My drink never arrived, and the chicken was over cooked.
I suspect my timing was poor, and the staff were tired out as it was a crazy weekend .
My Guiness was good once it was reordered.
I would try again.
