When in Kaluga there are two things you must see, one is the State Museum of Cosmonauts and the other is the Tsiolkovsky House Museum. Konstantin Tsiolkovsky was the theoretical physicist in the 1920/30's, and his work laid the foundation to all todays space exploration. The house has been preserved as it was when he lived there and its interesting to where such a great man came from. There is a guide to take you around the house if you wish, but only in Russian, however they have English guide notes available for all rooms if needed. A thoroughly good museum and recommended to visit.

In the middle of the Old Town and in the park of culture and leisure. Recently renovated and with beautiful wall paintings and icons. A really must go whenever you are in Kaluga. And if you are lucky listen to the beautiful sound of the bells ringing!

Well kept park in the centre of Kaluga with a nice view over river Oka and the new district. You can even find a tree which is more than 500 years old, another tree that was covered with handicraft and the houses at the square are beautiful, nicely restored and worth seeing and spending some time!

In Kaluga local residents love their famous countrymen. Sometimes even too much. Because the citizens install the monuments to them and don't know measure in such wont. So, there are in the city already 6 monuments to Tsiolkovsky. Well the one installed on his grave, and the other in the museum house - you can still understand. But the rest? Although this monument to Tsiolkovsky with the bike mounted on the Theatalnaya, looks better than others. It portrays a scientist outside the usual surroundings, and in almost homely atmosphere. This Tsiolkovski is closer and more understandable to ordinary people than the genius of science. Tsiolkovsky had indeed a bike and he actually liked to ride a bike. This bike is now in his museum. They say that Tsiolkovsky also liked to skate. Perhaps, the next monument to the scientist will be on skates.

Unexpectedly to find in Russian provincial city, not far from its center (about 3-4 minutes walk), the viaduct. A Stone bridge in Kaluga — it is a viaduct, with arches, the central of which are of two tiers. It is the oldest stone viaduct in Russia and one of the oldest in the world. Moreover, in the size it also surpasses many of its counterparts. Reality — a little less than 200 meters long, and a height of about 20 meters. It's broad and strong, it is still serviced by public transport. In addition, here come the newlyweds - it is a tradition in Kaluga like in Moscow to come to the Leninskie Gory.

A very beautiful building with an impressive arquitecture, tall collumns, a great sculpture at the front top and a woman bronze figure at the front bottom right. Nice square with a Fountain in front and a cute little park behind. There is a pedestrian site across the main street with the city's marco zero and two other bronze sculptures; one is a money bag offered by the city's banks, some say if you touch it, you'll get good lucky and finances, and the other is a man with a bike. There is also a clock at the wall with a fair lady.

Located at the intersection of two main transport arteries of the city — Moskovskaya street (in fact, continuation of Moscow highway) and Kirov street — surrounded by other buildings, among which the most remarkable are the cinema and "Dom byta".
The temple itself is very interesting. Strict, majestic and at the same time profusely ornamented, but quite elegant. In some ways even unique. Firstly, it is predominantly Baroque, but the bell tower has a lot of Gothic elements. Baroque rather European, not Russian. In any case, crowned by a round dome rotunda-like octagon on the quadrangle is extremely uncharacteristic decision for the Russian architectural tradition. A complex geometric pattern on the wall planes is grouped around five tiers of windows. Its aesthetic load is the deliberate contrast of white lines, red walls and bright blue Baroque dome with asterisks. Secondly, the main volume of the temple is a supportless tower, painted inside for almost the entire height, and it is also very rare.
The temple must be viewed necessarily.
