From the parking lot to the cliffs above the stacks is a bit of a stroll through a fences pasture. We had a mostly sunny day for it but the general path was muddy in some spots and if just wandering through the field there are some low spots that are pretty wet to cross. I would imagine that the pictures would be more appealing than the real thing on a wet and windy day.

Summer passenger ferry from John O'Groats to Orkney Islands every day starting 1 May to 30 September each year. Up to 3 departures daily. Day Tours of Orkney Islands daily from John O'Groats & Inverness during summer months. Wildlife Cruises daily from John O'Groats at 2.30pm. Wildlife Cruises start 20 June until 31 Aug.
Let's start with the positive: this is a stunning way of getting to the Orkneys from Inverness. The first coach trip (inverness to John O'Groats) runs through unforgettable scenery - I had plenty to read with me for the long journey but never took my eyes off the views. The boat trip was a little wild but again the scenery is incredible. The second coach trip from the ferry to Kirkwall over the Churchill Barriers was fabulous, although the views were mostly obscured by the sheeting rain. The coach driver asked us (the last three people on the coach) where we wanted to go in town and then dropped us off there so that we wouldn't get even wetter. Now that's what I call friendly!
Contrast that with the attitude of the so-called courier between Inverness and John O'Groats: She should have been selling teas and coffees but didn't, she only divulged information if asked direct and searching questions, and she appears to have told one couple the wrong departure time for the (delayed by ferocious rain) ferry, leading to them being left behind. Luckily the ferry staff, when alerted by other passengers, turned the ferry round to collect the couple off the pier. Meanwhile the courier was having an evening meal in a nice dry spot. Any information came from the bus driver. A pity how one rogue employee can spoil what was otherwise a great experience.

The U.K's most northerly petting farm and farm shop in the Highlands of Scotland! Come meet the donkeys, goats, pigs, rabbits and more! Open every day 10am-6pm
I need to start by saying I've just watched a programme in a series called Starting Up, Starting Over on C5 (was on 6 September) and was so moved by Karas ambition doing this instead of previously working with children I thought look on TA make sure she is still doing OK.
As reviews show you are still doing a fantastic job and I so wish I could visit. It is highly unlikely though. I visited John O Groats once back in the 70s.
If you manage to see your reviews Kara good luck for the future so wish I could live there to come and buy your yummy looking pies and cakes as well!!
Reviewers please try watch her programme about first setting up the farm on "catch up".
Sorry I'm being a bit cheeky here,in the fact that I've not been there "live" in person.
My sister and I wish we could come and help - we love animals.
Good luck with your venture.
