A wonderful lake with opportunities to do some serious hiking, Nordic walking, boating, mountain biking, and if you are quite experienced, rock climbing or mountaineering. On the water the lake can be seen from many sides so a boat trip is well worth it.

A small picturesque place with a beautiful church on the top of a hill on the lake Traunsee, definitely worth a visit. There are restaurants on the shore with views of the lake.If the weather is nice, you can hire a boat and have a ride on the lake. A peaceful place to recharge your batteries and spend a gorgeous time there.

several walkways which offer changing vistas of the Traunstein mountain and lake including the beautiful Schloss Ort where - an island in the lake with a castle and restaurant to dine. Totally romantic and unique. You can walk to the park from downtown Gmunden in 15 minutes and this itself is quite beautiful.

Located right on the water with a central plaza in front. Many festivals and events go on here, if you are there on Tuesday you will see the market where many sell their farm and other products. That would probably be the best time. The view over the lake is great and very picturesque. Note the bell in the Rathaus, they were made at the local ceramic factory, you can also buy ceramics from that factory in the city. From here you can get to most of the city on foot.

This is certainly a must see in the region of Gmunden. A wonderful hiking trip that can be done even with small children that leads along the lake Traunsee.
To get there, follow the road towards Traunstein until its end, and then continue your hike on the road or alongside the lake. At the very first tunnel, do not walk through but look right, the beginning of the Miesweg is on the right side of the tunnel entry. A wonderful path (approx 30 min walk) that leads to a wonderful place where swimming is possible.

Located just a short walk from downtown Rathaus we went here for Ash Wednesday. Outside the church looks like an average church. Inside however is beautiful. Old and ornate. You will find the craftsmanship superb and all kinds of history in the books and pamphlets. Well worth as top, you'll only need 15-20 minutes unless you are going to mass.
