Tarkeshwar Mahadev Temple

Reviewed By Abhay J

An exceptionally brilliant and peaceful place with magnetic charm for holiness. No pandas and any kind of commercial people around . No good quality hotels around and makeshift restaurants serving knick knacks like Maggie are available. Must visit place if holiness attracts one , nothing much available for children except running around in open glades of grass . Majestic indeed.

Badrinath Temple

Reviewed By SandipOct2015 - New Delhi, India

Badrinath can be reached from Rishikesh which is just half an hour from Haridwar. One can choose to split the journey and stay midway at Rudraprayag as its a long trip .At Badrinath the most memorable sight is that of the first rays of sun hitting on Trishul peak .Also the hot water spring /kund just outside the temple. The valley of flowers is on the way and Auli the skiing destination is near Joshimath the last town before Badrinath. Best time to visit can be early October when there are no crowds just before the temple shuts down for winter.

Ganga-Sacred confluence of river Alaknanda & Bhagirathi RIvers

Reviewed By twinkle906 - India

The Confluence of river Alaknanda and Bhagirathi tales place at Devprayag. Upon the confluence, the combined river is known as Ganga.. Alaknanda river starts from Alkapuri glacier ahead of Badrinath Dham and Bhagirathi river starts from Gomukh glacier. These 2 rivers meet at Devprayag. It is said that Lord Rama meditated here after killing Ravana. On the top of this confluence of Alaknanda and Bhagirathi rivers, you can worship Lord Rama at Raghunathji temple. We can see both the rivers distinctly and the merger of these 2 rivers. Very near to this, we can also have a dharshan of Lord Rama's Original Feet.. This place is very well maintained.

Very neat and clean well organised place of worship with some historical importance. Beware of monkeys here as they try to snatch sweets from your hands.

Small, tiny yet awesome. We wondered whether a detour would be worth and realised, fully worth it. What a decision. Guitars, books, old gramophone records, all maintained and on display. Handicrafts on sale, we indulged in some Maggi, coffee, etc and loved the time we spent. Did the stopover on the way back from Lansdowne. Not to miss if you wish to hit a library cafe amidst the beautiful ranges of Lansdowne

Triveni Ghat

Reviewed By FLworldwanderer - Florida

Having experienced the AARTI in Haridwar, the day before, this morning was perfect for absorbing all the cultural movement in the Triveni Ghat area. This may be one of the best places in Rishikesh to relax along side of the holy, River Ganges, and reflect on where life is taking you. (Does that sound too heavy). Life is short .... enjoy it while you can. Safe travels.

Vashishta Gufa

Reviewed By dr_peace - Germany

This place is 30 to 50 minutes away from Rishikesh and has an interesting history. The cave itself is rather small, it cannot accommodate a lot of people. It was an enlightening experience meditating inside the cave even though it was a bit challening as people were rushing in and out all the time making noises.
If you leave the ashram towards the river, you can find the meditation cave where his wife meditated. This one is in an open cave and you can take pictures (in contrast to the Vashishta Guha itself).
