We used the pickup and drop off service to get to and from the camp, was simple and good value! The camp itself is great, lovely rooms and hammocks and free wifi. The grilled meat platter is enormous, and the breakfast and lunch meals were equally filling, delicious traditional food during our 2 days 1 night stay.
One friend in our group has very poor nighttime vision, and one thing we overlooked was that the standard bungalows don't have their own bathroom - he wouldn't be able to navigate to the shared ones on his own. However, the staff were extremely accommodating in upgrading us to an ensuite room.
And the highlight: the rafting itself was a blast. They provide compulsory helmets, lifejackets and boots, and an optional wetsuit - we opted out of that one to enjoy the cold! We went in early July, so the river was quite calm, but still had some spicy moments in the white water! On the river, there are two spots where you can stop and enjoy the scenery as well. One involves a 10 meter jump into the freezing river, and another has a short walk to a waterfall, and also a makeshift bar to get some alcohol flowing. You don't even need cash money on you, as you can set up a tab with your guide. On a river, there are many periods of calm. To make these a bit more interesting, we would recommend a bottle of rakija, which was passed around our raft and enjoyed by all!!

Before I begin, this review might be a bit biased given that I am from the region even though I have been living in Canada for over 20yrs. I keep going back to motherland and Tara is one of the many reasons why. For all of you Lord of the Ring Fans - the Mountains of Bosnia/Montenegro were the chosen movie scene before the ‘99 bombings so there is something to be said about the beauty here. The photos on the internet do not do it justice. Imagine rafting for 4 hours among these Mountains, taking a sip of the same water you are rafting on, peeking through these crystal clear waters, and last but not least laughing, drinking, and enjoying your ride. Skippers who control the rafts are trained and if you are up for it, they can do all kinds of things like spin the entire raft of 6-10 ppl, creating an unbelievable memory.
Key Points should you wish to participate:
- map out your travels; busy season is July and roads are not well lighten so travelling at night to the camp is not recommended ; booking your reservation in advance is recommended
- define an arrival time given that rafting usually takes place around noon until 5pm (there are breaks down the route, such as a visit to the waterfall)
-not required by recommended is a reservation package (breakfast, raft, dinner, and accommodations); food is home-made, cured meats, eggs, cheese (we love cheese), Serbian style 360 pan “sac” to roast lamb, fish, potatoes, and salads. Alcohol and coffee are not included in price. For a night with this package you are looking at 50-60eur per person but check with the camp.
- should you wish to do other excursions like a Jeep adventure and/or climb the Mountains for mesmerizing views, that can be arranged
Tarasport, especially Igor (my good friend) can help your stay be an unforgettable one!
I hope you enjoy! Safe travels!

Maglic Mountain

Reviewed By Alejandro T

Maglic is the highest mountain of Republik of Srpska and Bosnia and Hercegovina. Other important Mountains such as Bioc , Volujak or Trnovacki Durmitor, with Maglic create a mountain complex at North West part of Montenegro. Sutjeska river separates them from Zelengora peaks on the other side of the same river.
There are several routes to hike and reach the peak. You can also freely camping on many places around the mountain. The most famous place to stay is Trnovacko Jezero lake, which is characterized for its heart shape. I recomend to look back in the meanwhile you are facing to Maglic peak. Bring some food to do BBQ and beverages.
Don't forget that this is a high-altitude mountain and weather can change unexpectedly, so please check out the weather forecast typing the nearest village which is Pluzine.
Last thing, pay attention to the Valleys of there with a "U" shape, that indicates the previous glaciar erosion. AS you can figure out the glacier has already gone, due to the climate change.

Pjescane Piramide Foca

Reviewed By Cmrlek - Sarajevo

Very unusulay attraction for the area. Extraordinary geological phenomena can be found near Dančići village not far from Miljevina. It is just by the old road to Foča not far from Miljevina coal mine - this is the shortest way to there. The road to the attraction is in very poor condition, no matter from which side you travel therefore I would strongly recommend to carefully pick the weather and the vehicle; 4x4 would be the best pick but it could be any vehicle that is not too close to the ground and with the tyre height 65+. In case you are accessing the site from Foča you should be staying strictly on the main road no matter how strange it may appear occasionally. The pyramides consist of clay, sand and gravel. They are shaped by the rain, snow, wind, ... some believe that their beauty excede those in Sedona, Arizona, US. Well, I'm lucky, I have seen now both and I would not compare them ... different in origin and size. Once you are in the area you should not miss this location. There is nothing around so bring your own water, food, coffee ... but please take all your litter with you upon your departure. Access is also free of charge but be careful where you park or how you use your car or motorcycle.

Camp Ivona - Day Tours

Reviewed By leylab - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The owner of Camp Ivona and his wife are the rudest and the most impolite couple that I have ever met. They scream on their guests, their attitude is negative, they disdain on people! It is incredible that are in the catering business.
Of all camps that I have been in, this one is the dirtiest. The toilets have probably not been cleaned for the entire year, guests are pissing all around because they don’t dare to enter in side! The bungalows and sheets are dirty.
They are playing very loud music until early hours, so it is impossible to sleep. If you make them comments about the noise they (Branko- the owner himself) tells you that you didn’t come here to have a sleep but to party.
During my stay, two groups of people left after having a fight with the owner.
Don’t go there! There are couple more rafting camps in the Tara river, I am so sorry that we got the worst! You have the right to choose for the money you pay!

Rafting Camp DMD

DMD Camp is located 4km downstream from the place of the origin of picturesque river Drina, in a beautiful valley, 20km from Foca in Republika Srpska. The camp is equipped with wooden chalets for a cosy lodging, and for those who like things a bit different, there is an option for sleeping in tents.

We visited this camp in August and we realized that it is one of the several camps in the area. What we loved about it the evening when we arrived was the warm welcome and great service, the cozy bungalow, which was clean and smelled of fresh pine, and the rich and delicious dinner. We went rafting the next day after a wonderful breakfast and even though we had to wait a bit for our turn, it was worth it. The equipment was not as new as the other teams we saw, but it was comfortable and safe. The river is calm over this time of the year, but the nature is so beautiful. There were still several rapids that were such fun and we truly loved the adventure! Our skipper was an absolute gem and when we went back to the camp, we couldn't believe that time went so fast! Big thank you to the lovely staff who certainly went an extra mile for us!
