Remarkable and beautiful park with a labyrinth of trails to hike/bike along. Depending on the time of year you visit, there is a wide variety of plants that bloom and add a splash of vibrant colors to visit. Take the dogs, a group or just go alone...well worth a visit.

A refreshing place full of beautiful scenery. Clean meadows and can see the view of the neighborhood like the city itself. It is large that you can spend the day off from the hustle and be in tranquil feelings and relax.
I was near autumn but the days were just enough to wander around.

In the late Sixties the Doornenburg castle was the location for the legendary Dutch tv serie Floris, a medieval story about a brave knight. The main character was performed by Rutger Hauer and the production by Paul Verhoeven, both have become international movie celebreties. I was a huge fan of Floris and determined to visit the Doornenburg castle once. This week I checked the activity list and decided to visit the Doornenburg castle during a day with the ‘re-enactmentgroup’ The Knights Of The Four Quarters (every third Sunday). The combination of the wonderful castle and this group generate a captivating medieval atmosphere, especially the young children will love it but I did too! After walking around the castle and on the innercourt, I took a lovely wheat beer on draught and a delicious omelet a la Doornenburg castle at the restaurant (very good and friendly service). Then I did the guided tour through the residence castle. Here you can imagine how it was to live in medieval times, from the kitchen and the living room to the arms exhibition and the attic that is totally dedicated to the tv serie Floris. The female guide was very nice and knew a lot about the history and persons of Doornenburg castle. In the end I did a final walk around the castle and was lucky to witness an attack on the Doornenburg castle by knights with swords and shields, the heavy defense was by knights with bows and arrows, pretty spectacular! For me it took a while (3 hours) to go from The Hague to his castle at the other end of The Netherlands but this ‘trip to memory lane’ was worth the money and the time, what a fantastic medieval experience!

What can you say about a CWGC cemetery? Row upon row of heroes. On the day we visited a previously unknown soldier received his named headstone, thanks to the efforts of many but in particular a Dutch researcher. Private Loney, is now a named hero. Well done Ginger.

Rent a boat with your family or friends to enjoy the beautiful surroundings of the lake. How about a romantic picknick on one of the Islands or sunbathing on the sundeck while the boat gently rocks on the waves. The water is clear and safe for swimming. No license needed. Max. 5 people.
Netter kleiner Hafen mit eigenem Badestrand. Sehr schön gelegen in ruhiger Lage.

We went to the winter fair and it was very nice. Christmas scenes in the old cottages, demos, waffles, poffertjes and ice skating. Only downside not all houses where open.....
