the views from the tower are fantastic on a clear day with pointers at top of tower. What a lot of people dont realize are the moors beyond the tower, unspoilt and vast especially at autumn with beautiful heather. you can walk down to Tockholes and have a cup of tea at Vaugns cafe or a pint at the Royal pub. For a bit more adventure you can walk through the top end of rocky brook see Hollinshead hall ruins and well house cross Belmont road near Piccadilly farm, and tackle great hill then down into white coppice, a good ramble about 10 miles in total. done it many times and always look foward to it.

Local pub, ideally located close to Darwen Tower and Sunnyhurst Woods. As Darwen's first Cask Marque recognised pub,we have a good choice of real ales from both the local Thwaites Brewery and other guest brewers, along with a good selection of wines, ciders and spirits. We serve food at weekends and are dog and family friendly, so why not call in a sample one of the finest pubs in Lancashire.
Nice country style pub, just a few minutes from town and on the edge of the beautiful countryside. Prices are reasonable, toilets immaculate, and staff always obliging. Certainly worth calling in especially after a thirsty trip up to Darwen Tower.

Wellybobs is a family run farm with lots of indoor and outdoor facilities. The emphasis at wellybobs is close contact with our wonderful animals. All our animals are extremely tame and are displayed in clean light conditions so you can meet them and stroke them. We have a petting area where you can meet our little furry critters, this is always staffed to ensure our animals are never mishandeled.Outdoors we have lots more animals and lovely countryside to explore,we have an outdoor play area, which includes our ever popular Zip Wire. We also have a 9 hole mini golf course (extra charge applies). Our indoor play barn features a timber play frame, giant bouncy slide, bouncy castle and toddler soft play zone, we also have a reptile area and go cart track. Moo's cafe serves home made hot and cold food and drinks at very reasonable prices and our ice cream parlour serves delicious ice cream made on a local farm. We also have a party area and gift area.please check our website for seasonal opening times and prices.
After visiting similar types of places locally, we thought we'd take our grand-daughter here, I must admit we were disappointed. It's a farm, so you cannot expect it to be pristine, however that said I thought the facilities were poor given the fact you are paying for an experience they could do a little more with them, for instance, hand washing facilities in the petting barn, no hot water, no towel in the towel holders, bins overflowing with used towels. there were some young staff milling around but they didn't seem to notice this issue. We also thought that some of the animals didn't look in the best of health and if you take your eyes off your children for a second they can be knabbed by hungry mouths wanting feed (witnessed a couple of worried parents consoling their brood) Visited the café, only for a brew, the hot chocolate was lovely. Couple of nice play areas, although the soft play for younger children could do with a little more imagination. It's definitely a place to visit with older children, lots for them to do from what we could see. Personally I don't think we will go back here, as we have visited a couple of others that were far more impressive.

This is my go to airsoft site when i want to go out and fling plastic at other human beings.
Its a well run site that offers a wide variety of games each time i go. They started to offer hot food this year which is an added bonus on those cold days.
Its by far the cheapest site i have played at but one of the best.
Great site, great prices, great location and great fun...so get down for a game!

Lance and Mel, the owners, are a great couple. Whenever there's an event on, Halloween, Easter etc, they make a massive effort to decorate the pub. They treat customers old and new with great respect and nothing's too much trouble. Definitely worth a visit ?

Lovely building. I just struggled to park since the Council put a pay and display machine at the train station - everyone is taking up free spaces in town! Interesting exhibits. I visited to attend a Yoga class upstairs which I enjoyed.

decent service, good pint, though there is a musty smell at times in there which can be a little off putting
