Good waves when we were there in the day. We returned at night with a portable 14" telescope and the view was very good even with a near 1/2 moon. Good view of the moon, saturn & it's rings, the southern cross and the scorpio constelation!

We walked up from the cruise port and was pleasantly surprised how reasonable it was to go up- $3.00 for the elevator (2) and the small museum is included. The views are worth it and for the price paid was worth the photo opp. Museum is small, but a bit of history that was interesting.

This 24-hour casino offers seven game tables and 100 slot machines.

Was curious how Casinos in different countries are, well, different, so we paid this casino a visit. We literally paid this casino as you have to pay 3000 pesos just to get in.
Once inside it's the standard slot machines, a few blackjack tables, roulette, baccarat (no poker, craps, or other card games). The drink/food prices inside aren't the cheapest either so you would need to be fairly well-off to be here it seems.
We played some roulette and slot games but to be honest, there weren't many people inside so you don't really get the usual casino ambiance/excitement that encourages spending (both time and money).
All in all, if you're here on a rare rainy day or need to kill some time (I personally would probably just stroll along the waterfront or sit at a cafe instead) then try the casino.

I came across this place by accident. For me, that adds to the attraction. I did enjoy the photo op's that visiting here did offer. There were some nice shots of the ocean, fort and Coast looking out tward La Serena, Chile. If you have a rental car this should be an easy stop, however I took the bus from La Serena to Coquimbo and the bus took me to the turn off to the fort. It was the start of a good outing.

We toured through this area. Another city with a historic precinct; somewhat shabby, the graffiti in evidence, buildings requiring renovation and/or restoration, buildings painted in the colours of the rainbow. It was listed in order to preserve the unique character of the area.
Now it seems that "undesirables" frequent the area and it is not a safe area to visit. No one suggested a stop.

As the title says, if you are in Coquimbo or Tongoy, is a must to go to Guanaqueros, is such an enjoyable place, specially to go with some friends or family, the zone is pretty quiet and you will find only kind people willing to help you. There are a lot of campings, restaurants, liquor stores, etc... Seafood there is delicious.
Something important, the water of the beach is so warm and quiet.
