Galsi Horse Rental has its resident just outside Blonduos, in North West side of Iceland. We offer horse back riding tours in the sorroundings of Blonduos. The trips are for all ages, for advanced riders and beginners.
The staff at Galsi were great and the horses are so sweet. We were on our horses quickly and were amazed by the views during our rides. We went two days in a row because we had such a good time! I have quite a bit of experience with horses, but my husband had never ridden before. The tour was perfect for both of us. We even got to tölt, which was fabulous!

The Textile Museum in Blonduos exhibits a unique collection of homemade wool and textile items. It also exhibits beautiful Icelandic national constumes and artistic embroideries along with many of the tools and equipments used to produce them. It is the only one of its kind in Iceland and was founded by the Women's Union in East Hunavatnssysla. The museum was officially opened at the centennial of Blonduos in 1976 . The museum has been a private foundation since 1993. Today, it is situated in a beautiful new building and the Exhibitions are easily accessible for visitors.
I enjoyed my visit here. I learned a bit more about this country's ties to fiber, but especially about the strong contributions of women and their labor to society. Visit and meditate on the greatness of Halladora Bjarnadottir (1873-1981), an Icelandic educator whose belongings and writings are here. Talk about a turn-of-the century trailblazer.

The staff are very friendly here and you are welcomed to the swimming pools with free coffee and nice smiles. This pool is one of the best swimming pools in Iceland and the locals are very proud of it. It was quite quiet when we went but that was also nice.

We were driving from Akureyri to Reykjavik and happened to stop here to stretch our legs. This ended up being a lovely, low effort hike that parents and kids both enjoyed. It's located on Route 1 as you enter Blonduos, across from Efstrabraut. There's a metal bridge to cross and then you're on Hrutey Island, which splits the river Blanda. The hike itself is fairly flat and easy, although there are points at which you can get down to the river. There was a sign on the bridge saying that the bridge would be closed at certain times of the year. This definitely isn't a destination in and of itself, but it's a nice stop to break up a long drive or have a picnic. When we went the weather was beautiful, and not another person was on the island. It was very peaceful, and we were quite glad we stopped and explored.

Today I visited this gift shop in Blonduos. It's a charming place. My friend and I purchased horse hair yarn, which I'll use in an art piece. I also got some soap. A lot of the crafts are made by locals including hand-knitted items by the proprietor's mother. This store is run the same people who operate the angling service. Indeed, you can also buy stuff for fly fishing. It's in the Old Town section of Blonduos and just steps from The Blanda, a river that pours into the sea. Beautiful.

When you step into the Salmon center of Iceland, salmon colored walls catch your attention. This is the Salmon center, located at Blönduós. When you come inside you see, on one of the walls, a giant picture of Nordura in Borgarjfordur and a big fish tanks on pedestals is in the middle.
Unfortunately, the center was closed during the period of our visit. It would have been nice to know that before hiking up the track to the locked gates
