Pliva Waterfall

Reviewed By 424tarikd - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

The most spectacular waterfall in Europe! Imagine having almost Niagara Waterfalls in the middle of medieval town, the ancient Bosnian royal capital. Access to the platform from which one may watch the waterfall from under costs 2 KM - but it is worth paying. Go to the view point on the hill opposite it too.

Stari Grad, Old Town

Reviewed By jenedc2016 - Santa Rosa, California

Travnik's largely Ottoman fortress is similar to others in the country but well maintained with many intact buildings, mosque, ethnographic museum with some interesting displays of local traditional life and culture, and a nice craft centre with locals making and selling traditional crafts, including woven goods and pottery. It has great views of the town and valley.

River Buna Spring

Reviewed By Edvin B

Anyone can find something interesting around this place, some religious moments around tekija, nice oriental architecture, good scenery with cliff hanging over house and crystal clear water, nice food in restaurants by river (try fresh trout). Visit early in the morning, by 10, when is not crowded to check around and stay to try delicious food for lunch

Cafe Bar Bonaparte

Reviewed By Taanialiik - Fiorenzuola d'Arda, Italy

Great beer, nice live music. On summer you can sit outside and enjoy some fresh air, considering that on the inside is quite small and packet with people - more, as everywhere in Bosnia, you will be welcomed by a thick cloud of smoke, since smoking in public places is not only legal but customary. As everything in Zenica, very cheap - and a little hard to find.

Watermills

Reviewed By Edina U - Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

Small, charming Watermills built in surprisingly beautiful peace of nature. If you are looking for a pick-nick place, a nature getaway not far from Jajce, pack your bags and head hear. It does not have much of supporting content itself, only nature, but you can find a hotel and a restaurant nearby and a auto camp, if you are looking for more. Watermills are a chance for a zen moment and eye relaxation, and if you are looking for wally ball, tennis, biking and more, just go down the road.

Sarena Dzamija

Reviewed By BosnjakSTL - Saint Louis, Missouri

Šarena džamija (Colorful mosque) is an amazing building located in center of Travnik. Apparently built in 16th century, it was rebuilt several times since.
As it names states, on of the features of the mosque are colorful decorations on walls and ceilings. Old kilims lay on the and on main and mezzanine level. Mezzannine is build by wood, so when you walk or pray on it you have a feeling it will break.
Being located in the "busy" part of this small Bosnian town, it once housed shops, but I am not sure they are being used now.

Castle on the hill, with great view of the area, we were there on a weekday and were the only visitors at the castle, and so we were able to sit with the two of the staff and ask questions about the castle and learn more Bosnian history, well worth a visit if you are anywhere close to Zenica.

Ottoman Villa Velagomed

Reviewed By Touche_Guy - Antwerp, Belgium

A group of houses belonging to an old and traditional Bosniak family. The location is very pretty, everything kept in the way it was and with its original function (2 mills, an irrigation system, a cool house, etc.) The guide, Semir Milavic, descendant of this family, is busy restoring the compound and, based on what you see in the typical living room, tells fascinating stories about the life and habits of the people who lived here (in French and/or English). He develops a project for an artistic and educational interchange between youngsters from different countries. You can also rent a room on the premises.

Pliva Lakes

Reviewed By AlbertSalichs - Manresa, Spain

Near the town of Jajce (the historical capital of the country), there is a zone, where there is a very beautiful lake. It is a popular zone of locals, where you do a pic-nic while you see the fantastic views of the lake and the Mountains. Really, it is so nice and a perfect site to relax in summer. Moreover, near here, there is also a popular pic-nic zone with Watermills, where you can see great views of old Watermills. A very good recommendable place, if you go to Jajce.
