taking some pictures nightimte of the outside of the Cathedral, very imposing, one of the masterpiece of Northern Gothic. At 11:00 pm started, unexpected, a concert of light & music.
Magic atmosphere, staging the Cathedral with different motives.
A Choir was "projected" into Cathedral niches!
Not to be missed! very good. Sadly did not have time to visit the Cathedral inside, next time!

Quiet for those who want to sit on a bench. Animals for those who like to visit the birds and the donkeys. Places for running in the grass or rollerblading, even a few geocaches for those who know what they are. A neat park on the outskirts of town.

This chateau is a little off the beaten track, but some of the smaller less visited places can be the most memorable. The chateau is in need of major restoration but its decrepit state is part of its charm. An old couple owns the chateau. The wife sold us tickets and gave us a general history of the property in English and showed us a view of the canal. The husband took us around the house. They could not have been more charming. The highlight of the interior was a display of magnificent book bindings in the library.

Beauvais was a centre of tapestry-making for centuries, and it is no surprise that this museum serves a dual purpose: it introduces the visitor to the history of this ancient art in a small gallery (due to be expanded soon) and it hosts temporary Exhibitions. The current one is on sacred and profane love as themes in tapestries (and in art in general). Quite a huge topic, which is thrown into relief by means of comparisons and contrasts.
As you walk through the rather cavernous galleries, your eye is primarily directed towards the ancient tapestries, but then, teasingly, smaller modern artworks are spotted on the walls and elsewhere, acting as a kind of counterpoint to the main exhibits. Many of them are quite lurid and sexually explicit: much of this is not suitable for the delicate minds of young children or maiden aunts from Tunbridge Wells. But this is France.
The galleries are on two levels, and in the basement you will see the foundations of Roman and Medieval buildings, so there is another reason for visiting this site.
The museum does not levy an admission charge, nor is there the type of souvenir shop or café that one would most probably find in similar locations on the other side of the Channel.

I went to Beauvais, Picardie, 48 miles (77 km) north of Paris, to attend a concert with French singer-songwriter (and "superstar" in French-speaking countries) Francis Cabrel.
The accomodation was excellent, and the facilities above average.
I loved the concert but have never attended a sports event, so I may be a bit biased perhaps.
