Came upon the Gardens while wending our way towards the Golden Statue atop the Cathedral ! The place was packed with over a hundred students all enjoying lunch & picnics on blankets & towels in any shaded spot available. The view over Avignon & across the river was great and it is a pleasant respite from the crowds (normally) and the heat !

You will go into the church using one of the two wooden carved doors. They are impressive. When you get in on your right there are four small chapels totally different of the usual style in other strict Gothic churches. They are original their arcs and arches are painted with multi colors. On your left there are 4 more chapels and each one has its own style.I liked the second one. Then do not miss the little paintings above of every Episcopal chair.Another original thing here is the huge Holy Spirit above the marble altar. Usually at this part of a Catholic church there is Christ or Virgin Mary.

This was just what we were hoping for. Amazing array of French food at its best. Everything from goats and sheep cheeses to charcuterie and fresh meat. Fish that looked like it was only just caught, and probably was. Beautiful fresh vegetables And every sort of fruit and artisan breads. Plus delicious looking cakes.
All housed in the most incredible market that has a front wall that is totally unique in that it completely coated in plants, but greenery so that it looks like growing wall.
Totally unique!
All we can say is WOW, and go back every day during our stay to stock up.

We walked here to see what was there. There was a restaurant bar. Beside that there was not much to see. As a country walk it is probably worth going. It was pleasant watching the river traffic.

The Petit Palais Museum is placed in a nice old building and presents a really interesting collection of medieval and renaissance art from western mediterranean, specially italian painters. But the information panels are really a disaster, specially the maps. They should review and replace it soon.

Street of Dyers (Rue de Teinturiers)

Historic cobblestoned street that is known for its many cafes and restaurants.

Reviewed By johnhouston2 - Knaresborough, United Kingdom

Although this street is not as pretty as some reviewers might suggest, and is actually slightly scruffy in parts, this street was our favourite in Avignon, as it feels like a slice of the city that has escaped mass tourism.
Certainly worth a visit - but keep your expectations in check.

Avignon Musee Angladon

Reviewed By Dreamwoman - California

The Angladon is a smaller museum, with a varied collection of paintings, sculpture and furniture compiled by Jacques Doucet, a fashion designer and patron of the arts from the turn of the 20th century displayed in an 18th-century mansion. Well worth the visit and wonderfully free of swarms of people during our September visit making it easy to slow down and enjoy the pieces on display.

This public museum has a great collection of paintings and sculptures. We really loved the room of impressionist paintings which has some wonderful pictures by artists familiar and unfamiliar. We visited the room twice. The rest of the gallery is also very interesting and there are sculptures by a modern artist dotted amongst the old paintings.

This was a interesting train trip and would of given it 5 stars but our headset stop working half way through. What we heard was interesting and informative. It also gave us a great ideas where we wanted to visit later. Do this train on the first day to find out the best places to go later.
