Tour de la Massane

as Long as you love walking this is DEFINATLY a great walk to try, depending where you start from it will take upward of 3 hours at a quite pace,to reach the sumit.walking up though the woodland seeing the wild boar paths through the undergrowth and then the last 40mins or so is out of the top the the tree line.
The path is not too well well marked but once you have joined it you cant go far wrong, once you are out of the tree line can be quite difficult going but the views from the top are your reward! STUNNING :) I wouldn't do in mid summer unless your hard core.
A definate must on a cooler clear day if you love walking!

Don't miss this part of Collioure and bring your camera! Don't forget to look up, window boxes, flowers and laundry. There are art galleries on several of the narrow pedestrian only alleys and streets. There are some very good restaurants to be found there, but check Trip Advisor first and to avoid disappointment, the best ones need a reservation.

We visited La Vallee Des Tortues as we stumbled across the leaflet in a tourist information centre and it was just thirty minutes from our accommodation in Collioure.
Our two year old loved seeing the tortoises, there were a variety of different sizes and species and the most impressive in my opinion was the huge tortoise with his own beach hut :)
The tortoises seemed to have ample room to mooch around with lots of ground, ponds and shade.
There is an area of hammocks to relax in the shade, there was also a play area complete with several large trampolines and some play equipment- next to this were some loungers for the adults to chill out in whilst overseeing the children! Bonus!
There was a small place to buy drinks (beer alongside cans of soft drink and water) and food which was very reasonably priced (2€ for a small portion of fries) they also served sandwiches and crepes.
All in all a good place to visit which is surrounded by beautiful greenery so a nice drive there with various walks available close by.
Dont go expecting anything fancy, it's a simple and relaxed day out. Perfect for a two hour visit or grab a lounger and plot up for the day whilst the kids play and explore.

Canyoning Park

Reviewed By harleybarley123 - Prestwick, United Kingdom

We had read about this on several occasions and really fancied giving it a go ... so in April we took the plunge and went along to the Canyoning Park. This was the 1st week it was open in 2015 so was relatively quiet ... we turned up without booking and got on just after a group that was nearly finished.
"We" were 48, 42 and 14. On arrival we were greeted and kitted out in wet suits, helmets and safety harnesses, followed by a short safety talk and demonstration. So far so good !! Our instructor spoke decent English as well.
The course basically consists of a series of about 12 jumps / slides / abseils of varying height and difficulty ... ending with a zip wire into a plunge pool to finish the course. The course is designed around an artifical mountain / canyon range with fresh water pools and Waterfalls throughout.
The highest jump into a deep pool was about 10m / 30 feet ... which when you are up there looks a LONG way down !!! But the exhilaration once you have jumped is great !! You can opt out of any of the activities if you wish and if the group would like an easier route they will also accommodate this. The scariest bit for me was an abseil down a waterfall where you had to move sideways with the water crashing over you before dropping into the pool below.
At the end we all completed every activity, in some cases doing more than once ... not bad for a couple of old duffers !!! We all enjoyed it.
All in the course took about 1hr 45mins.
Highly recommended if you fancy something different during your vacation !

Promenade du Front de Mer

Reviewed By felipehavana - Javea, Spain

Sandwiched between the wide beach of coarse grained sand (not good for sandcastle building I am informed) and the avenue of touristy restaurants this Promenade extends for quite some distance. Tree lined and surrounded in the distance by snow capped Mountains (we were there out of season) it encompasses a range of parks, grassy areas and different features including Fountains and pretty funky lighting. Even out of season the boulevards were full of people enjoying a walk in lovely surroundings. Do have to watch where you walk though, the aversion of the French to use the bags provided for dog waste (or indeed use their own) was very much in evidence.

There are several ways to hike up to this fort, or you can take the tourist train from town. The trail my husband and I took up was a rugged dirt path - a bit easier going up than coming down. Beautiful views along the...MoreTo get to the Fort, you have to go through some wild lands, it is the magic of the ascent. We noticed that we did not have a book in English. We will do the necessary. Sentier du Littoral

Reviewed By enessde - Edinburgh

From a scenic point of view this was a nice walk along the cliff tops. We walked it from Le Racou to Collioure. There had apparently been a landslide along part of the walk and we were diverted inland past a camp site before rejoining the cliff path. Just past the campsite there was a distinct lack of signage showing the way to go. (Turn left and keep the railway to the right!). In quite a few steep parts of the route the path was in poor condition with steps worn away. Some maintainance would not have been out of order.

Its a bit of a climb to the old windmill. Once you get there there is not much to see externally. The views down to Collioure are fantastic.
