We attended a family get together at Rietvlei Zoo farm and it was a completely memorable experience. The Goat Lapa was booked. It had braai facilities as well as power points which was a nice touch.
The farm has a wide variety of activities such as zip lining, petting zoo, pony rides, jungle gyms and picnicking to name a few. We really had an exquisite time catching up with family.

Previously know as the Johannesburg Civic Theater, this is a group of 4 Theaters situated in Braamfontein, Johannesburg. This theater stages both Broadway musicals and local productions. The main pedestrian entrance is at 163 Civic Boulevard, opposite the Metro Centre offices.
I had the good fortune of seeing "King Kong, the Musical" in the Nelson Mandela Theater. It's the only theater in the world named after N.M. The revival of South Africa's first black musical from the 1959's was quite enjoyable. The acting and singing was the very best of South African talent. (The character "King Kong" was portrayed by the singer and dancer Andile Gumbe, who played "Simba" in the Broadway show of the Lion King). My orchestra seat was only US $24! Acoustics, stage setting, and audience Seating was great. The artistic energy of the performers left a smile on your face.

Pilanesberg National Park is one of the largest volcanic complexes of its kind in the world! Paddy picked us at our Hotel in Sandton, at 6.30 AM.
On our road to Pilanesberg he explained us all the story of the mines.
We arrived at Pilanesberg park around 8.30 AM, and then the adventure began. Paddy knows the park as if he was born in there (by the way, mybe it is the case :) ).
We managed to see tons of wild life including 3 of the big five.
Paddy was an endless source of information and was always anticipating our questions. Just a magic day.
On our way back to the hotel, we had a very long conversaion with Paddy on the recent story of the country and the current situation. If you are planning to spend a few days in Johannesburg, this is a must.

Country Bliss is in Walkerville in a stunning setting with buck walking around. The amenities are fairly basic, however the masseuses are exceptionally good, amongst the very best I've experienced and the rates are most reasonable, making it exceptional value.

This museum is architecturally interesting and packed with thoughtful, often brutal, reminders of South Africa’s history.
I knew a little bit about Apartheid before visiting the museum, but there was so much I did not know. This museum does a great job of detailing the history and explaining the atrocities. I loved learning more about Nelson Mandela-- what a remarkable human being. This was a sobering experience as we visited the museum after an amazing vacation in South Africa, and just before leaving and getting on a plane back home to the USA. The museum is thoughtfully organized, and there is a lot to read. I am grateful I got a chance to visit this museum.

Nowhere can the story of South Africa's turbulent past and its extraordinary transition to democracy be told as it is at Constitution Hill. Constitution Hill is a national heritage site situated in the Johannesburg CBD and is home to the Constitutional Court of South Africa- the highest court in the country on constitutional matters. Once a place of injustice and brutality, where South Africa's leading political activists, including Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi, were detained, the site has been transformed into a place of solidarity and democracy, home to the Women's Gaol museum, Number Four Museum, and Old Fort Museum. Apart from its engaging and gripping Exhibitions, Constitution Hill is also open to the public for guided tours and has become an important platform for Heritage, Education, and Tourism related programmes. The vast variety of programmes hosted at Constitution Hill enable us to embrace current issues, celebrate days of national significance, address matters of public interest and create a forum for public debate. With its rich history and character Constitution Hill boasts of ideal platforms to educate and learn about South Africa's story. ConHill, as it is famously known, also offers a variety of multi-purpose venues, suitable for conferencing, Performances, a large array of events and for public activities and programmes.
Constitution Hill was a prison rebuilt to be a Court. We were shown the hardship of inmates and the cruelty they were subjected and the cramped conditions the lived in. It was somewhat sickening to learn about this piece of history. This visit is part...MoreDear Chong A, Thank you for visiting and for sharing your experience. We hope you will continue to share with friends and family about the site. Best regards

Toyota Hilux DC 4x4 and Toyota Land Cruiser DC 4x4 Rentals, Fully Equipped, 100% Insured with unlimited kilometers. No extra fees for extra drivers; Free pick up and drop off in Johannesburg.
If you're thinking of a self-drive safari you should definitely do it! Just use a different company. We recently spent 25 days with a SA4x4 vehicle, not having read the negative reviews carefully. The company has some friendly employees but is disorganized at best, and the owner only cares about your money and not your satisfaction. When discussing our grievances at the end of our trip he yelled at her and threatened to report the vehicle stolen. It's not worth the stress dealing with this company - read the negative reviews carefully and believe them!

It was my mom's birthday and we decided to treat her to a flight of fancy in a Tiger Moth.
Booking the experience for all three of us was simple and the team at Classic Aviation were lovely. We included the DVD option where you are provided with a personalised DVD of your experience and they were even happy to help us book a table at the airport restaurant with runway views for the special event.
It ended up being too windy on the day to fly but the team at Classic Aviation were happy to reschedule for a more suitable day.
Two days later, we took to the skies and thoroughly enjoyed our flights. It is a scenic flight with a dip through the Valleys that sees you skimming the reed banks down the river (on a good day). It was still pretty windy when we flew so we did not get as low as you can do but I did get to wave at the cars on the highway at eye level (almost).
We picked up our DVD's a couple of days later which is an awesome memento of our experience - this usually takes a week but they put a special rush on it for us as we were leaving the country.
They also offer acrobatic flights in a Pitstop Special, which I am keen to try the next time I visit, and picnic flights in the Helicopters.
They do provide the flight gear for you to wear but I would pack a jumper as it can get quite drafty in the air.
They also allow you to take your own pictures and even allowed us to wait on the runway tarmac so we could take photo's and videos of our respective flights.
If you have never flown in a Tiger Moth or similar then I would recommend it as the perfect adrenalin rush for an adventurous soul!
