Set on two floors and in an idyllic palm tree and twinkly light filled courtyard, the Bakehouse has been a part of the local community for the past 15 years. New owners Kim Letchford and Gary Francis took over on the 14th February 2017. Kim started working here over 8 years ago, when she did her work experience for school. She went on to study catering at the local college for 3 years and worked at the Bakehouse for most of that time as a chef, taking time out to work abroad. Gary for the past 6 years has been the sous chef at The very well known gastro pub The Victoria Inn, in Perranuthnoe. They are both very enthusiastic and innovative creating new and exciting dishes for their guests. They look forward to welcoming you to their restaurant to enjoy good food in a friendly modern restaurant.
Found this place on a wet night on our way to the Scillies... it was empty and pretty dark.. but open and Wow what a treat... really friendly, made us welcome and relaxed. The food was really good from start to finish - and the house wine a real treat.. unbelievable... wish we had more time... It's a great spot and worth seeking out in its hidden alleyway...

my wife and myself had dinner here and enjoyed it immensely ,the food was good, service superb and the wine was reasonably priced, what more could you want.
The waitress and the owner were friendly and chatted when they had time and the decor is typically Thai. Highly recommended.

This place was recommended by the person I was staying with and my stop to have coffee in the day augured well for an evening visit. Staff are easy going and friendly and the local food was well made, generous and delicious with a good and varied selection.

Come visit us at Duke Street and enjoy a warm welcome, good coffee, breakfasts, lunches or indulge in some homemade afternoon cakes.
This really is one of the best cafes I've ever come across. Last Sunday I had their big breakfast which was just magnificently cooked and presented with really nice strong black coffee. The ambience, food and the service spot-on and the location great, top marks all round. A place I intend to revisit many more times.

In the debit column: the tables are too close together and the food expensive. In the credit column: produce from the adjacent garden is used; the cafe and outside tables are spotlessly clean; and there is a good range of teas, including a nice decaff option. If you know what time you'll be visiting, I'd suggest reserving a table.

We were a walk in during St valentines and one of the owners set a table for us, which was very kind since we didn’t have a booking. The pie was absolutely delightful, the best full-of-fish pie I had eaten. Defiantly be visiting it again when we’re back here.

Great good and good portion sizes. Pr8ces are average but fish is huge. Always have a good local catch. Parking is an issue but a small carpark nearby

The Mexico Inn is a lovingly renovated, traditional village pub, serving up fresh food and local drinks in a stunning location with a laid back atmosphere. This is a pub for eaters, drinkers, walkers, windsurfers, cake addicts, real ale fans, dog lovers, caffeine fiends, locals, visitors, families and friends - so come in, get comfy and make yourself at home.
It was my first time at the Mexico Inn after months of friends telling me it was amazing and I really ought to go! So glad I did. The food was absolutely amazing, I tried 4 starters and three mains and everything was fantastic. The chocolate bread and butter pudding with crème anglaise and praline Ice cream (need I say more) was the most delicious dessert. Wide range of veggie options, wonderful drinks. Great efficient friendly service. Awesome place. Even the decor is so tasteful and cosy. Loved it!

We eat here every week. The Polish food is excellent. Authentic recipes. High quality ingredients. Generous helpings and good value for money. Open in the evenings and a very attractive Christmas menu. Only surprise is it’s not packed every day- yet! Try it for yourselves.

We are a welcoming, friendly, happy cafe-bar serving some of the best local produce in Cornwall. We serve specialty coffee from Origin Coffee Roasters, our meat is from our Local Butcher (Harvey Brothers) our bread comes daily from Baker Toms in Falmouth and our vegetables are all locally sourced. We offer wines and ciders from Polgoon Vineyard right here in Penzance and we have beers from St Austell Brewery and Keltek Brewery. We love dogs and have areas where you can relax with your four legged friend (plus Katie, one of our owners, is likely to give them a treat or two). We have a laid-back atmosphere whether you are in to read the papers, catch up with friends over a cocktail, or even a business meeting, we are here to look after you. We can take Reservations and are even open for private hire, contact us for more details.
A lunch break from Christmas shopping and we were both really impressed. As well as the usual relaxed and convivial atmosphere with its quirky raw decor, our light lunches ware really tasty. Smashed Avocado and poached eggs on sourdough with bacon and a dressed salad garnish was absolutely yummy and the avocado chicken mayo and bacon Sandwich was a very tasty and very generous. This will become a regular lunchtime haunt from now on.
