Mild ocean breezes, sandy beaches and swaying Torbay Palms give the small English town of Torquay a distinctively Mediterranean feel. More than just a beach spot, Torquay boasts an enormous coastal aviary and the famous Kents Cavern Prehistoric Caves. Agatha Christie spent most of her life here, and the city is now home to multiple film companies. With such a rich literary history, Torquay may be the perfect place to finish writing that novel or screenplay, or just to relax with a good mystery.

Took 93-year-old mother here for early evening birthday treat. Staff extremely helpful with getting elderly lady to her seat. Tray of fresh fish brought to table for choice, with several different ways of cooking each on offer. Food was outstanding and service delightful.

The restaurant is nice to look at. We were a group of 10. The service was not what I expected, the staff didn’t seem interested in their work or customers. We ordered different starters and main courses, the starters were super, the meat from the main course was very good but the veg was a disaster, warm and not cooked, could get my fork into the sprouts, the wine was ok, the staff never asked if we enjoyed the meal or if everything was ok, all in all quiet expensive for what you get.

Fine dining restaurant within easy walking distance of Torquay harbour, offering modern British-European cuisine using fresh local produce. A single Seating policy allows you to relax and enjoy your evening without feeling rushed.
First Class dining experience with good attentive but not over zealous service. Eveything was cooked perfectly.Choice is good and the wine list varied and reasonably priced.
I am looking forward to a return visit.
The only problem is that parking is difficult in the immediate area

Myself, my husband, son, daughter-in-law and four grandchildren have today had a fantastic meal in Cotton Eyed Joe's. The children were welcomed and given colouring pages and crayons to keep them entertained and the food we had was excellent. From tbone steak to ribs to chicken nuggets everything was presented well and delicious. I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant.

Our first visit to the Restaurant with friends
The food was outstanding. Good choice and exceptional flavours and presentation. Our evening was complete when the owner introduced himself and we finished off the evening talking about our Austria holidays and drinking plumb snaps on the house - Thanks for a great night

Restaurant with an Austrian Touch - Austrian Chef/Proprietor-Werner Rott and his team are here to look after customers with a smile and mostly locally sourced ingredient in casual surroundings - a small intimate Restaurant with just 22 Covers where the guest is treated like a friend 2015 Taste of the West South Devon Fine Dining Silver Award 2016 Taste of the West South West England Gold Award
Visited last year for the first time and we were not dissapointed on our return. Same high standard of food preparation/presentation - this time I tried the calves liver with mustard mash -- very nice. This is a very small restaurant but it has a nice atmosphere.

We are an independent, local, family run cafe offering breakfast and light lunches. Our varied breakfast menu is served from 10:00 - 11:30 and includes full English, vegetarian and homemade pancakes. Our coffee is locally roasted just around the corner and we also offer loose leaf teas and hot chocolate. Our tasty lunch menu includes healthy options, vegetarian dishes, delicious chefs specials and our famous home made burgers. (Last food orders are taken at 14.30). We have Seating on ground level, first floor and also outside.
We found this little eatery on TripAdvisor after discovering that our usual port of call (The Elephant) in Torquay was closed. Tucked down at the end of a cul de sac side street we would have not found it had we not read the reviews, which would have been a shame as it was a real find in a town that does not seem to have many good quality independently owned restaurants. Despite the rather chilly weather, there were a number of people enjoying coffees and lunch outside, inside there is a wood burning stove and the ground floor was full.
As we were expecting a large dinner in the evening we stuck to light dishes, a wrap was delicious and so were the homemade fishcakes.
All the staff were charming and the prices very reasonable.

**WE ARE OPEN ON BANK HOLIDAYS **At Ephesus Restaurant, we promise you a meal to delight all of your culinary senses and bring you to the very heart of Turkish & Greek cuisine.
Turkish & Greek cuisine is largely the heritage of Ottoman cuisine, which can be described as a fusion and refinement of Central Asian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean and Balkan cuisines.Turkish & Greek cuisine has in turn influenced those and other neighbouring cuisines, including those of Western Europe. The Ottomans fused various culinary traditions of their realm with influences from Middle Eastern cuisines, along with traditional Turkic elements from Central Asia (such as yogurt), creating a vast array of specialities-many with strong regional associations.
It is this same fusing of traditional influences with our own regional expertise in delicacy that enables us to create a one of a kind eating extravaganza.
Not been here since we had a set meal on valentines a couple of years ago. Still top class Turkish / Greek food. Family run business with very good service. We had the calamari to start followed by Lamb Guvec dishes, excellent & reasonable prices. Gets busy at weekends so book if you're intending going then.

If you want a burger while in Torquay I highly recommend The Shack. Delicious, great value burgers and generous portion sizes. The chicken wings are delicious (although quite salty), the classic burger is far from ‘boring’ in flavour and the hog father is flavoursome (even if a bit messy). Good atmosphere, great service and scrumptious food. Overall a great restaurant. I would definitely revisit and recommend to anyone wanting a great burger in Torquay.
