Paignton (/ˈpeɪntən/ PAYN-tən) is a seaside town on the coast of Tor Bay in Devon, England. Together with Torquay and Brixham it forms the borough of Torbay which was created in 1998. It has origins as a Celtic settlement and was first mentioned in 1086. It grew as a small fishing village and a new harbour was built in 1847. A valuable asset to the English Riviera for nearly eighty years, the Babbacombe Theatre is renowned for wowing audiences with their highly-acclaimed variety shows, performed throughout the year by a professional cast. Music, Magic and Mirth in all its guises is what ‘Christmas is…Magical’ promises this festive season. The family show promises spellbinding Illusions, the obligatory ‘Singalong’, some movie masterpieces, pop hits, comedic classics, Disney favourites, dashing cavaliers and a host of heavenly angels. Look out too for the international travellers raising ‘a glass’ or ‘twelve’ of cheer, as they enjoy a little bit too much, of the Christmas Spirit! For details of all other shows programmed at Devon’s No.1 theatre (as rated by TripAdvisor), for 2017/18, please refer to the venues website. The theatre has, access for wheelchair users with an accessible toilet, wheelchair spaces & Loop System.
Recently went to see Starshine.....AMAZING.... a bright entertaining show (a complete contrast to the cold wintry weather outside!). Ben was hilarious, the magician was clever and the dancers and singers kept us entertained all night. As a group we make a special trip to see the Babbacombe show each year and this show did not disappoint....we laughed from the beginning to the end and had a thoroughly enjoyable evening. If you get the chance to see this show you will not be disappointed. Well done to all the performers and choreographers.

A wheelchair-friendly 1 mile walk on the South West Path around Paignton's Roundham Head, the hub of the town's sixteenth-century fishing industry. The headland's rocky red layered cliffs are topped with pines and sycamores. There are extensive views, northwards across Tor Bay and over Goodrington Sands to Brixham in the south. On a good day you can even see across Lyme Bay to Portland.
One of my favourite places. Just love the views from here. Looking to Torquay, Paignton then Goodrington and Brixham.

Take this extraordinary glimpse into the beloved holiday home of the famous and much-loved author Agatha Christie and her family. The relaxed and atmospheric house is set in the 1950s, and contains many of the family's collections, including archaeology, Tunbridgeware, silver, botanical China and books. Outside you can explore the large and romantic woodland garden, with a restored vinery, wild edges and rare plantings, which drifts down the hillside towards the sparkling Dart estuary.
We spent a very cold February day here. We had booked the parking online as directed, neither the steam train or ferry are running at this time of year. We arrived before our booked slot as it had taken less time than predicted to get...MoreThank you for a wonderful review, we're so pleased you enjoyed your visit (despite the cold weather!) and particularly the spring garden walk. We have passed on your lovely comments to our team here and hope we see you again very soon!

This really feels like the sweet, old fashioned resort we all get nostalgic over. A huge beach with 2 places to eat (a Brewers Fayre and the live music bistro Cantina) arcades, water sports, ice creams & fun - what more could you ask for??

Kents Cavern is by far Britain's most important prehistoric cave used by ancient humans for the last 500,000 years including Neanderthals and early modern humans. The caves are open every day for guide tours, 7 days a week with natural caverns, amazing natural formations, remains of mammoth, woolly rhino, sabre-toothed cats, an Ice Age woodland trail quest, nice shop and cafe with views over the Ilsham Valley. The closest hotel to the attraction is the Gleneagles, inspiration for TV's Fawlty Towers. We are 2km from Torquay Harbour and only 15 mins walk from the South West Coast Path and local Beaches, well-known to previous visitors like Agatha Christie, Beatrix Potter, George V, Alfred Wallace and Charles Darwin. Perfect for a rainy or sunny day by the seas, winter or summer.
Visited yesterday with my husband. I was really impressed. David was our tour guide and he was friendly, very informative and added some humour to the affair. Not as physically strenuous as Other cave tours I’ve been on. I’d definitely recommend
