This magnificient beach is part of a National Park about 20 minutes north of punta Del Diablo. I have traveled alot, and this beach is definitely in my top 5 Beaches visited around the world. Plus, we were absolutely alone the entire afternoon.
The sand is like flour, the water is crystal clear, with large waves, so it suited me, but you have to be careful as current is strong. Do not miss this beautiful place when visiting Uruguay.

If you are looking for a quiet beach, this is the one. Tranquil and not crowded, with great sand and water. Visited in mid Dec and surprisingly the water was not as cold as I thought. Managed to go for a quick dip. I would walk along the beach to find calmer waves for a quick dip, and the area near the light house and an area somewhere in the middle of the beach offered just that. No garbage, very clean, and no pebbles, only some sea shells in certain area. A fantastic beach!

Really enjoyed having a beach bar so close, and watching the beach dogs playing in the water. Rain runoff comes into the beach here, and it makes the dry sand area much more limited.

There is nothing special about the beach itself....it's decent but can be very crowded at peak season. There are a lot of good nearby options for food and drinks...i.e. caipirinhas... and watching the vacationing masses. A short walk can take you to quieter Beaches with fewer people.

Frankly, I've been to much better Beaches in South America (and to even more remarkable ones around the world). Punta Del Diablo lacks the party atmosphere of Copacabana and the beauty of Central American Beaches. What it has instead are ridiculous crowds and overpriced accommodations and food.
If you're looking for a side trip while visiting Montevideo, try some of the quieter and smaller Beaches along the beach stretch instead. Save that partying for Copacabana in Brazil.

Good shopping spot, most items are sold from the artisans themselves. Arts and crafts but also interesting leatherware, silver jewelry, local sweets and liquors. There is also a good bookstore on the strip and several pubs/ restaurants. Very bohemian feel throughout.

So you've made it all the way to Punta del Diablo which, let's face it, is not the easiest to get to. To get to this monument, which is perched on a large lump of rock jutting out into the bay, you walk past the craft market on your left and then through an abandoned holiday village which is an appalling eyesore. Somebody please pull down this collection of rotten concrete buildings. If you're after weird holiday snaps to post on Instagram this is your place... Once past the yuk, walk out across smooth rocks to the monument from where you get great views of the little town and the bays. Well worth it for the view. And for some very strange holiday snaps of burnt-out chalets.

I have a very positive review for BiciUruguay. From the time that we started planning our cycling trip several months before our departure, to the date of our arrival we exchanged quite a few emails with Coen, the proprietor. He arranged for us to pick up our bicycles in Montevideo and drop them off at the end of the trip in Punta del Diablo. The bicycles that we had were brand-new and performed flawlessly during our two-week trip on the east coast of the country. The price was very reasonable and the support that we had was remarkable - all at no extra cost. I would highly recommend BiciUruguay to anyone planning to cycle in Uruguay.
