Prosneige

Reviewed By NicSedman - Warrington, United Kingdom

Being the most inexperienced out of a group of 6, the first day was a real struggle. Trying to get down steep parts of the slopes with moguls was battering my confidence and I was really forcing myself to ski. By the time I would reach friends, I would be tired, but because they waited for me, they were ready to ski on. By the end of the day my calf's and hips were very tight and sore so I knew that I had to go and get a ski lesson sorted for the next day... and I am so happy that I did!
Mathieu was a great person to ski with. Very friendly, thorough and assertive. I had a two hour private lesson and it was certainly worth the money. Mathieu recognised areas I needed to improve on and instead of bending my hips and knees, I just had to do the knees. Sounds obvious but the pressure of my body really helped me relaxed and I realised where I was going wrong! His teaching was very engaging and the confidence began to grow. I would like to thank Mathieu as it really did help get my confidence back :)

This is my third year using Oxygene (formally Magic in Motion). The previous 2 years was with MIM in Meribel. However this year we stayed in Val Thorens so decided to go with them again.
What persuaded me to go with Oxygene this year was the competitive prices but more importantly the smaller group sizes. The other schools in VT are larger groups. Larger group sizes mean less interaction and constructive feedback from the instructor. Oxygene in VT is no more then 6 people per group, which is vital for learning!
I was in a group 2 class which was a week long course and Alberto was my instructor. He was fantastic, good humoured, patient and spoke very good English. He really helped me progress from a low level 2 to high level 2 in a matter of days. I can't wait to book with these guys again next year! Thanks again to Alberto and the Oxygene Team!

Evolution 2 Val Thorens

Created in 1987, Evolution 2 became one of schools of ski and adventures the most respected by the French Alps. We wish to share with you experiences which will remain engraved in your reports! Our philosophy is simple: we believe in the apprenticeship by small groups with instructors specialized in every discipline. We offer you a personal approach of the apprenticeship. Our groups are always limited to 8 participants by instructor. For the toddlers and for our off-piste internships we limit to 6 by instructor. Discover the good slope, the one who will offer you the happiness and the sensation to be totally in your place in a sometimes difficult nature, give you the just piece of advice, at the right time, without falling in a too educational rigidity. To choose the education Evolution 2, some are the activities and the ground, it is the certainty to have at his/her disposal the maximum of assets to live and make a success of a great moment of adventure.

My family and I took lessons with Evolution 2. I took an advanced off-piste, my wife private lessons, and my two kids Yeti classes: EVERYone was pleased: The groups are small and friendly. The cost very competitive: They challenge you yet respect your existing level. I would highly recommend. ESF is a good option but we`ve had some bad from time to time. Evolution 2 is distinctively a superior option. The largest classes for my kids was 3!! They cap at 8 in any case. My kids also tried the igloo building one night which they said was fun. A big thank you to Vincent, Virginie; Xavier and Cyril.

We booked mini-club for our 4 year old son. ESF mini-club offers great facility where younger kids are in a safe environment to start learning skiing. ESF instructors were friendly and our son loved it there. He also improved a lot during the week.
ESF offer lunch and garderie, which is handy if parents want to ski on their own a bit longer.
In overall we would recommend ESF mini-club for younger kids. Though we inscribed our oldest son with Evo2 as they have smaller groups.
