Azienda Agricola Alberto Marsetti

Valtellina is one of the most northerly wine-growing areas of Italy. The vines are grown on the mountain slopes facing south, giving protection and insulation whilst they mature. The first to cultivate vines in Valtellina came from Liguria, (where cultivation is also on narrow terraces), then the Etruscans and Romans. "Heroic wine-growing", we can call like this 'cause here the territory is precipitous and everything is handmade! Alberto Marsetti is a official spokesman about the Heroic wine-growing from 1986. In fact, Alberto form that year, carriers on the work of his grandfather Angelo. We product 500 hl of wine. The most come from the Nebbiolo variety (called Chiavennasca) and from aboriginal variety "Brugnola", "Pignola" and "Rossola". In the historic center of Sondrio, the wine's mature in barrels and old wooden vats. Just here, originated "Le Prudenze", a d.o.c.g. wine really dry, hot and fruited, and spiced "Grumello" d.o.c.g., both just with Nebbiolo variety; but also "Rosso di Valtellina" and especially "Sfursat", a rich and mature wine. The collaboration with the Foundation Fojanini of Sondrio born two years ago has allowed to the our company to be able to expand the range of products entering the market, therefore a very interesting white dry and pleasantly sour and fresh, which is the terrazze retiche i.g.t Bianco dell'Arcipretura, and two Valtellina Superiore d.o.c.g. from the area of Sassella, as the "Sassella" and the reserve "Le Barbarine", tastes clean and dry and austere bodies.

Sondrio, is a great half-way stop to stretch your legs between Milan or Bergamo airports and Bormio.
Park underground in central Piazza Garibaldi, named after the statute of Giuseppe Garibaldi erected in the square in 1909. The north side of the square is bordered by the garden of Palazzo Martinengo, decorated with mosaics depicting figures from Valtellina's history and art. Take a look inside the Banca Popolare di Sondrio, with its imposing furnishings designed in 1960. Stroll up the narrow pedestrian alley Via Dante with its interesting shops all the way to Piazza Cavour. Double back and take Via Cavallotti to the Chiesa Collegiata opposite the well decorated municipal building.
You may then head back to Piazza Garibaldi along Corso Italia, but if you are a chocholate addict it is well worth continuing staright down Via XXV Aprile to the confectionery Emozioni di Cioccolatto
Recommend refreshments and people watching in one of the piazza cafes (if still early) or head for Trippi Restaurant (if time for lunch). Beware... you will be tempted to stay a few days to explore this charming city with its rich history, culinary tradition, world-renowned wines, and neighbouring attractions.

Palazzo Pretorio

Reviewed By Attivol - Rome, Italy

Complimenti!
