Overlooking the Indian Ocean, the Museum of Geraldton celebrates the rich heritage of the land, sea and people of the Mid West region. Discover ancient landforms, Yamaji history and culture, and the region’s unique natural landscapes and marine environment. The archaeological riches from four Dutch shipwrecks - Batavia, Gilt Dragon, Zuytdorp, and Zeewijk, are revealed in the Shipwrecks Gallery. Visitors can join a guided highlights tour available daily at 11.30am. Witness the wrecks of HMAS Sydney (II) and HSK Kormoran as they currently lie, 2,500 metres deep on the ocean floor, in From Great Depths, a moving exhibit and 3D film. The Museum’s shop has a great range of souvenirs, gifts and educational items suited to all ages and interests. The Museum is open daily 9:30am - 3:00pm. Closed all public holidays.
This museum is well worth a visit. As first timers to Geraldton we did not know a lot about the area’s history but this small museum certainly filled in the blanks for us. Great exhibits on shipwrecks in the area and the history of the town and region. The short film on HMAS Sydney was amazing. Not sure why the museum closes at 3:30pm but there were plenty of people, including us, still walking around when it was closing time.

This was such a lovely place to visit. It is so beautiful inside. It is well worth a visit. The stained glasses windows and painting are just awesome. You don’t even need to be religious to enjoy this Cathedral. So pleased you enjoyed your visit Kerrie.

An evening stroll, watching the walkers and the surfers. A cool beach. Café at one end, toilets at the other and plenty of foreshore amenities. A few minutes walk back into town when you are done.

Recently we did the art drive that took us through the park, also taking in the wildflowers. I was absolutely amazed that this spectacular park was so close and also had some great camping places around, clean public toilets and fantastic outdoor areas in superb setting

Very small and VERY hot! Animals well cared for but poor layout. Shop is inadequately small . Great being able to feed the animals with feed from a bag. Difficult to find, off the beaten track.
