Intimate restaurant with just 24 covers. Book in advance to avoid disappointment. Quite large portions, limited but adequate wine selection. You can expect good country cuisine from local ingredients and menu varies with availble local produce.

They are primarily a restaurant that caters for "Country Cusine". They cater for vegetarians and all tastes. Excellent wines
We had the caprese, and then steak and calamari, all superb, and the service by Shannon great too, all while being entertained by the magical male peacock, strutting his stuff ... feathers so beautiful - wonderful meal in the evening and breakfast the next day and stay in one of the cottages.

So we booked this hotel for one night. The booking was made back in September for one night on the 7th November as we had eaten there but never stayed there as well.
On the 1st November I receive an apologetic email that there had been a mistake and that the place was closed that night due to their staff party!!!
Fortunately we found alternative accommodation but I still had to go to Lords to collect my deposit.
When I got there, they simply handed me the cash without a word of apology. Indeed to make matters worse there was a man there who looked like a manager and he too had nothing to say.
Frankly this is the worst experience that I have had in my life.
In addition the payment of the deposit. Cost me an amount in bank fees both in South Africa and Switzerland but these were also not offered.
The final straw was that my wife fancied having a cup of tea there but we were not even offered this as an apology!

If you are here on a weekend you are lucky enough to be treated to a beautiful home cooked roast. A local pianist playing in the background just brings this to a perfect evening in the country side

You will definitely meet the drinking locals here. They are friendly and will charm you with local news. The atmosphere is very austere and it's more of a man's pub than a lady's. It can get pretty noisy and hot but the veranda is good if you want a quieter drink. Worth a visit anyway.

McGregor is somewhat off the beaten track but worth a visit, especially for lunch at Tibaldi's. The restaurant, situated in a historical building, has plenty of outdoor Seating backing on to a very large private garden, including a duck pond, used by many for retreats. In fact the restaurant owner issues a map for the garden it is so extensive.
The service was prompt and friendly and the cuisine mainly Italian. The food was well prepared, tender and tasty. We ordered the chicken with a basil pesto and chips and chicken strips and dip for our grandson. Dessert consisted of baked cheesecake and a large slice of chocolate cake. They were well presented. The meal was rounded off with a strong black americano.
I would definitely go back.
