Merseburg ([ˈmɛɐzəbʊrk]) is a town in the south of the German state of Saxony-Anhalt on the river Saale, approx. 14 km south of Halle (Saale). It is the capital of the Saalekreis district. It had a diocese founded by Archbishop Adalbert of Magdeburg. The University of Merseburg is located within the town. Merseburg has around 33,000 inhabitants.

The church of Merseburg was erected after Emperor Otto triumphed over the raiding Hungarian army in the second half of the 10th century. The building is of early Romanesque style, somewhat changed later - but the main character remains (unlike, for example, Trier). It became one of the most important religious seats of Germany (for a while overshadowed by Magdeburg, but later reinstated as the premier episcopal seat). Here one finds the oldest German language document, and many other important artefacts, which are well preserved and presented.
The town itself is not the center of the world, as a glimpse from the car window will immediately, and correctly, tell you... :-) The church complex is impressive and is worth a visit.

This castle is located just above the river and has a great view. There is a big garden and Fountains and easy walk to the river. We could not get into the castle, but still this is absolutely worth a visit. To get a good picture cross the river by the bridge just by the castle. Here you have the best view in my opinion.

We visited the Museum primarily to see the aircraft exhibits (approx. 40), but their are also quite a number of other items on display there, cars and fire engines. Exhibits are both inside and outside. The aircraft are both hanging from the roof and on the floor but quite close together making photography rather difficult of some exhibits. Worth a visit

Можно немножко пощекотать себе нервы. Это склеп с мертвыми. жене было достаточно жутко. Ну а мен вполне интересно. На одноразовое посещение годно
