Hillsborough Castle

Reviewed By 2Travell2 - Antrim, United Kingdom

This is a grand venue and the weather was brilliant so a stroll through the Gardens was really beautiful. The place attracts many visitors though a number were associated with tours and were including a tour of the building. Gardens are extensive with lots of colour, well kept walks and a meandering stream with a lake - a tranquil and leisurely place to visit.

The Hillside Hillsborough

Reviewed By Carly B - Belfast, United Kingdom

My boyfriend and I called into the Hillside for lunch today. We have been several times before and always had great things to say about the place, however, today's experience was a very different one. We were one of 3 tables seated in the restaurant, I ordered the beef stragonoff and an extra side of fries whilst my partner ordered the lasagne. After a lengthy wait for our food the lasagne arrived with the wrong side, skinny fries instead of tipple cooked chips. When questioned the waitress kindly apologised and went off to the kitchen to swap the side order for the correct one. Well, we waited, and waited but no side arrived. When we had finished out meal the waitress who took the order returned to apologise and explained that there were actually no tipple cooked chips available as the Delivery had not arrived yet(Why this information wasn't relayed to her by the kitchen when she left to swap them 15minutes earlier, I don't know). We were offered a fresh portion of skinnys, but refused as we had both finished our meals...as a 'good will' gesture the extra side of fries that I had ordered were taken off the bill...which didn't really mean anything as the lasagne side never arrived with the meal, so in essence all that really meant was that I didn't receive the extra side of fries. Thanks! While I can appreciate that there were no triple cooked in stock, or that it was perhaps a service error what I do not appreciate is being lied to, because there was a table of 10 beside us that received their meals as we finished, and guess what they were served?...yep, lots of dishes containing tipple cooked chips. The order must have miraculously arrived in time for their order. A very disappointing experience to say the least, from an establishment that sets itself such high standards.

Azora Health & Wholefoods

Reviewed By saytan - Belfast

The best cafe in Hillsborough. Located at the bottom of the town, Azora is a well stocked health food shop with a cute cafe poking out the back. Great decor and cosy Seating, its only downside is the limited number of tables - but you can take out. Service is generally quite fast and the food always tasty. Have yet to not enjoy eating there, and the coffee is delicious. Healthy and lighter, seems mostly organic fresh food seems to be the focus - such as soups, salafs and wraps. Definitely Hillsborough's #1, especially if you are a vegetarian!

Hillsborough Fort

Reviewed By BrianArmagh - Armagh

The Fort is enclosed by a wall with no public access though Historic Royal Palaces have plans to take responsibility for it and to open it to the public. It is approached by a tree-lined walk from the top of Main Street, just opposite the Tourist Information Office. The grounds, outside the walls, are well maintained and the Fort itself is impressive.
