The Plough Inn is a famous family owned pub boasting an excellent reputation for hospitality, atmosphere & wonderful food. In business for over 20 years the Plough offers a contrasting dining experience with award winning pub grub lunches & fantastic gourmet dining in our highly acclaimed restaurant seven nights a week. Launched September 2012 our brand new Simply Seafood restaurant at the Plough Inn. Simple, affordable, fresh local seafood in the beautiful village of Hillsborough every Friday & Saturday night. Our public bar is the quintessential "local", a traditional pub with a fantastic selection of beers, wine & spirits. All major live sport shown daily, weekly pub quiz & live music every Friday & Saturday night!
Party of three. We ordered 3 breakfasts and were very disappointed at the quality presented. Minute piece of bacon, 1 overcooked mushroom served in isolation with hard potato and soda breads presented, that had been cooked at a much earlier timeframe. Portion size ludicrously mean.
After a good start, this establishment seems unable to maintain standards.

I had been told really great things about Spice and being a curry lover thought we’d give this a go. I did book but on arrival the restaurant was empty although it was 6pm so early.
Restaurant clean but cold so that was slightly off putting. We were shown to our table by a very polite member of staff and hubby and I ordered the Cobra beer on draft.
Quick Delivery of our pints and we straight away ordered.
Chicken Makyani for hubby was definitely not what he was used to it was so very sweet and bright red in colour.
I ordered the vegetable curry and pilau rice with both and garlic Nann with popadomms and chutneys to start.
Food was nice and as we learnt from the lovely bar man all chefs are different and one may be from Pakistan and another from Deli and they all have their own interpretations of western dishes so you will rarely get the same dish in restaurants.
All nice and tasty but not the wow factor we were expecting.
£41.00 for two mains with cobra beer for two and popadomms so not that bad.
A good curry house but not the greatest for us.

The Hillside is a charming, rustic pub situated in the historic Georgian village of Hillsborough, County Down, only 15 minutes drive from Belfast city centre. The Hillside first opened its doors to patrons in 1752 and has been enjoying a busy trade ever since thanks to our excellent food and drinks selection and our friendly, welcoming service. We are renowned for our roaring open fires in the winter and our pretty cobble stoned beer garden in the summer. Food served daily. Large parties catered for. Private room available.
The Hillside is a lovely Inn situated right in the centre of Hillsborough. The staff were very welcoming, especially on a cold January day. Service was a little slow but very good. The atmosphere in the place was very inviting, especially the glowing fire. Parking can be difficult around this venue but it is well worth a visit. The food was excellent, when it arrived. All in all a very pleasant experience

Although building and decor leave little to be desired, the atmosphere is still good. A family run restaurant with the most amazing home cooked foods, producing meals with fresh ingredients that taste incredible! The offer of two course meal for 2 people costs an amazing £14.95 (not per person!! But for two), offering traditional Indian cuisine to your taste as well as poppadums and dips included. We ordered the chicken pakora for starters (I would definitely recommend) and a chicken korma and vegetable rogan josh for mains, and away from the set menu our third party ordered a lamb Bhuna which melted in the mouth! The service is extremely friendly, and we are never disappointed!

Our menus are designed to offer the best and freshest of local produce, including game from the neighbouring Larchfield Estate and ingredients and dishes from around the globe. As a sister restaurant to the Award Winning Plough Inn, Hillsborough, naturally seafood is our house speciality all year round. Our aim is to offer something to satisfy everyone's tastes. Our friendly and attentive staff are here to ensure that you relax and simply enjoy a taste of "good olde Irish hospitality".
My family and i where in for a meal, the food was impeccable as always. I have been in on many of occasions to this establishment, and never beem let down. But an incident occurred between management which shouldn't have made its way into the restaurant. It was clear and apparent a manager and younger member of staff had a disagreement. To which the young girl had to walk past visibly upset. This made the meal slightly uncomfortable and not as enjoyable. Rather dissapointed by something that should have been kept behind closed doors.

I've reviewed this restaurant before but this is the first time since the modernisation which has been successfully done in 2017, though to be honest, I personally liked it as it was. I meet an old school friend in Hillsborough several times a year as it is half way for both of us so we have tried all the local places. We were here for lunch and we're happy with our meals and he service we received, both of us opting for fish dishes from the specials board. There is a new outdoor Seating area which might appeal later in the year.
At the end of the day though, I'm not in a mad rush back. Happy enough but not wowed.

We were a party of 13 out for a Christmas meal. We had traditional Christmas fayre, I had a prawn starter on wonderful wheaten bread, followed by Turkey, ham and veg, and trifle to finish. The food was fantastic. Great portion size too. The staff were friendly and helpful. Great service too. The restaurant is attached to a quite country pub. Just perfect. We are already planning a return visit. Keep up the good work guys. See you soon.

Firstoff, when you order a messy plate of bbq ribs, you expect wipes to be given. We were given nothing so luckily I had wipes in my handbag.
Secondly, they offer the worst coleslaw I've ever had the misfortune of encountering. Tasteless and disgusting.
Thirdly, I had a large amount of leftover chips and rice which I asked to be packed up along with my remaining enchilada, When I got home I discovered they did not include the rice and chips. I called them and they gave the reason as being that rice goes bad quickly and chips are hard when heated up. I told them I paid for it and I would be the judge of that. So essentially they cheated me out of food I paid for!
Add to the salad sweetcorn wasn't cold and was right out of a tin. Disgusting and outrageous treatment for paying customers. Run don't walk from this place.

Located within the House Of Vic-Ryn
My husband and I called in here for breakfast this morning as we had both never been before.
We both ordered poached eggs and toast.
When they were brought out, not only was our toast cold but our poached eggs were also quite cold. They had obviously been sitting there for a while before being brought out to us. Not a great first impression. I sent them both back and complained that they were both cold.
They did however remake them for us and when they sent it out, it was fine.
Have to say, they had a great selection of scones which looked absolutely amazing! Will definitely be back again sometime to try these :)
